We pulled into this campground with no reservations on a Saturday morning.I think we got away with it because it was early June. We have a 30ft motorhome which is pushing the limits of this campground. When we asked about a space, the ranger coming in on shift change just said "no" for our size while the ranger about to leave told us the spaces that we could fit. They try to keep the larger rigs to the first loop, so they don't have the narrow twisty roads. We walked around and picked 15 for the night knowing we'd have to move the next day no matter what we chose.
Make sure to have your toad hooked up when you pull in, so you don't have to pay an extra vehicle fee. We unhooked right inside the campground and getting around the loop in our mh proved to be rather easy. I think the airstreams below have more trouble because of the length of the truck and trailer combined. 15 was relatively easy to get into and was right next to the showers. They next day, we moved to 56 which seemed a bit narrow with a tree on either side, but we backed in without too much trouble and then had an awesome spot with lots of trees around making it feel private. 53 looked like it would work, too, and we saw a 33ft mh in spot 30 in the back. Most of the other campers were in small class Cs or tents.
Don't expect to use your solar here as you're sitting below all the redwoods, but that's what makes it so special. You're right in the middle of the forest and it's a good spot to see the rest of the park and explore all the kitschy Avenue of the Giants stops.
We were able to use both Verizon and AT&T here pretty well. One star deducted for access because it's easy to find the place, but harder to get around the campground. Two stars deducted on noise because we had a dozen kids screaming and playing from 7am-10pm on 2 nights (our first night was very quiet). It's a state park in summer, so expect it.

You don't get a lot of sunshine through the redwoods so solar power is not ideal in this park. No hookups.

We had enough Verizon coverage for Sam to get work done.

It took about 30 minutes to get to our site because we couldnt get around the corners of the loop (we had to stop and back up a few times). Then when we found a spot, we were so close to the trees, we couldnt open the windows or the awnings, and we had to park the truck at the park office. The sites are really large, but they have specific areas within the sites for you to park that are blocked off. Its TIGHT in this park! Otherwise, its gorgeous!
