“Nice little campground - be prepared for steep switchbacks”

This campground is located above Armstrong Woods. You have to go through the woods and begin a 20 minute climb up a narrow one lane road with switchbacks. If you encounter a vehicle coming the other direction, you both have to do a little dance to pass. This means backing up and looking for the rare wide spot.
The lookout parking lot view is incredible. The campground is smallish. The pond is a fun central feature.
The camp host has always been nice. Some partyers up there from time to time - you can never predict when it will be a college frat party or a peaceful experience.
Before you begin the steep road, there is a sign saying, "NO Trailers". I have pulled a small cargo trailer up there when I was under contract to offer telescope viewing, but I would not recommend it. However, there is at least one switchback where even in just my truck (no trailer) it is tough to navigate. I had to back up and although that does not sound difficult, the tight turn and steep grade makes it challenging.

This campground is very peaceful. There's a long dirt road going in but we managed to get a prius there, so it's not too bad. The views from the lookout point are incredible. It seems like the rowdy campers stay away from this place. There's lots of fantastic hiking trails around, some of which lead to the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve which has some really gorgeous trees and accessible paths. IIRC there's a vehicle size limit of 22 ft.

“Closed indefinitely, yes, but that's no reason to rate 1 star...... ”

This place is not a 1 star campground, but yes it is closed due to being burned down. I do not think it should be rated 1 star due to being closed, that doesn't make sense to me.
“Campsite burned down”

In another horrible fire in the fall of 2020 this campsite burned down.
