The campground is located at the end of several miles of gravel road (FS Road 520). We saw NO signage for the campground on Hwy 21 and the sign on FS520 was completely illegible. There are lots of dispersed camping opportunities all along the gravel road before you reach the campground. The road is a little wash-boardy the first half mile or so, but then smooths out.
The campground is situated among the pines. Spaces are well separated with lots of trees between. The reservable loop (sites 16-32) has level, gravel spaces big enough for any size rig. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. This loop is adjacent to the smaller Martin Lake. Sites 1-15 are in a different area closer to Bull Trout Lake, but most of those sites are smaller, less developed and the loop road is signed as not recommended for large vehicles and trailers due to a tight turnaround. We walked it and thought it should be doable with our 33’ Class A if we dropped the toad. There is also a group site (#33/34). There is one source of potable water in the campground, a cool old-style hand pump and several vault toilets.
There are hiking/biking trails nearby, but do your research before you arrive. There is NO cell service and no information posted about trails. We asked the campground host about hiking and got a vague there’s a trail over that ‘a way and one over there and one across the hill… so we spent our time on the water. Lol.
No Verizon Service.

We had perfect weather for the week we arrived. We stayed Monday-Thursday during the week of Labor Day. Labor Day was the last day you could make a reservation and after that the sites are first-come, first-served. So once we were in, we could stay as long as we'd like. The first night was $23 because it was the regular season. The rest of the nights were $15 each.
Site number 4 is right on the lake on a quiet loop with 8 sites. It was our first experience dry-camping with our RV, but we were well-prepared for that. Lots of trees, a nice fire pit with grill, and a picnic table were located at the site. There's a hand-pump for getting fresh water, but it's a bit of a hike no matter which site you're camping in. Next time, we'll bring a bigger water jug to refill our tank. Using the outdoor shower on our trailer made it easier to get by without filling our waste tanks.
There are a lot of hiking and biking trails accessible from the campground, and paddle boarding and kayaking are popular activities on the lake.
We didn't use the vault toilets, so I can't comment on the cleanliness of them, but you could smell them at a distance when you walked by. Just sayin.
Heck Yeah! would stay here again

Bull Trout campground is a popular FS CG off Hwy 21 between Lowman Idaho and Stanley Idaho, set back two miles off the highway. Bull Trout CG consists of four loops. An equine loop complete with holding pens at each site and enough room for large horse trailers. This loop has a turning loop at the end. The main loop of Bull Trout has numerous oddly numbered sites along the lake and are popular with smaller RV's, tent trailers, pickup campers, and tents. The third loop is off of Martin Lake and is popular with big rigs, but a lot of tent campers use this loop. Sites are fairly level and each have picnic tables and fire rings. The last loop is for group camping. Although there are four loops, it doesn't feel like it. All sites are adequately spaced with a lot of growth between and multiple pit toilets per loop. The hosts keep the toilets clean. There is a water pump with fairly good tasting water. Numerous hiking opportunities abound. No cell coverage here at all. Elevation is close to 7K, so summers can be warm at 75 and nights cold at 35 even in July. We've camped at sites 27, 31, and 32 with our FW. Campsite feee is half off with the America the Beautiful Senior Pass or Lifetime Senior Pass or Disabled Pass.
