Great spot, clean restrooms and nice showers.

Large field area for the kids with volleyball and horseshoes. River side for fishing as well.

Nice sites, all have power I believe. And are paved or graveled and very level. Fire pits and picnic tables in each site. Definitely a nice getaway spot.

This is a nice small (COE) campground that has a river/creek along both sides of the loop located on the tailwater side of Buckhorn Lake Dam. Sites are all back in and only have water and electric. There is a centrally located bathhouse with flush toilets and showers that are some of the cleanest I have ever seen. The sites are all spaced a decent distance apart with many having trees offering nice shade. They have ice and firewood available at the check in booth. Cheapest firewood we have gotten anywhere. They do not have any type of camp store so make sure you bring everything you need. Its at least a 10-15 min.drive to get to the closest gas station/convenience store. All of the campsites are located along the outside of the loop with the center area being for tent camping and parking boats. Depending on how vehicles/boats are parked in the center area it can make it a little difficult to maneuver your rig into or out of your site.
Just a word of caution, they offer a few buddy/double sites. These are not for two rigs as they only have hook ups for one. They are more for those with extra vehicles or those that want extra room for tent camping.
If you like a dark campsite at night do not get a site near the bathhouse. They have very bright exterior lighting that stays on all night. There are also several streetlights throughout the campground.
There is not a lot to do here, besides fishing in the creek and just relaxing. Be sure to drive up to the dam and check it out. This also offers a neat view of the campground. Many of those that camp here drive the 14 miles (30 min.) down the road to Buckhorn Lake State Park. Nice lake for boating and kayaking. They also have a beach area for swimming. This is one of the more in need of work state parks that I have been to, but it is still very beautiful.
The drive to get anywhere around here including the campground is thrilling to say the least. Make sure your tow vehicle has plenty of power to get you up at least 3 large mountains and your brakes can stop you coming down the other side. Lots of twists and turns too. I would camp here again but the road getting there is a big deterrent for what the area has to offer.
Interesting fact: The largest river birch in KY is located inside the campground, so if you go check it out.
