“The road to the campground was not passable in August with our truck and 27 ft trailer.”

We had to turn around once hitting the gravel road. It was horrible washboard and steep loose large gravel.

Spent a weekend here hoping to just camp in the forest in the rain but the weather cleared. Was just perfect.
Site 3 is pull through right off the road. Short walk to the creek with some tent camping spots along the way.
Nothing more to add that others haven't already said. It's a nice place for a weekend.

Basically on a logging road, mostly paved, a long ways from everything. Be sure to pack in your own food and water. Pit toilets are fine. Water was shut down in the main camping area due to a low water table. First come every day, I believe you can get into a spot starting at 8AM. If you see white tags on the poles at each campsite, they are probably from the people who just stayed there, since there are no reservations. Campsites behind the gate have a very limited seatson. A few along the lake may be open year round but subject to snow and flooding. Great begineer hike around Beaver Pond.

The road up is subject to flooding a couple of miles in from Highway 101. A famous picture of the salmon crossing the road during flooding was taken there.
AT&T and T-Mobile has no reception at the campground. However if you go about 3 miles down the road there is good reception from both carriers.
You may want to wander to Spider Lake during the day in a car. We have not been there. Also look up HIGH STEEL BRIDGE which is worth visiting. Look up VANCE CREEK BRIDGE on youtube.com for the bridge that is dangerous/closed, and is subject to daredevils using it.

Six sites are on the river or creek, site 5 or 6 were the best. Forest Service campground that was a bit tired. Some sites were level and flat to accommodate larger RV's, either paved or gravel. A short Hiking trail goes around a beaver pond and there is easy access to the creek and river. No trash service, clean outhouses, no reservations accepted.
No Verizon cell service at the campground but spotty service on the drive there.
