For starters, there was not a single staff member seen in 24 hours. The check in was all self serve where you write your credit card number on an envelope and stuff it in a slot. The “pull thru” site was about 30 ft long at best, so staying hitched up isn’t an option as the campground is very small and you’d be sticking out well into one of the 3 paths. The bugs were horrific; horseflies everywhere. The guy behind my site was sitting on his trailer steps in his underwear smoking a cigarette while his unleashed dog just barked at everything. It’s all gravel. And not like well packed gravel, just loose stone. There is a MASSIVE ditch at the entrance that was never mentioned on the website. It’s a fifth wheel swallower, so be careful pulling in…that’s IF you have a suspension left after traversing down the oddly placed road to get there. It’s basically on I-55. The highway is literally 250 ft from the campground so expect a ton of road noise. The water pressure was in an out all day. Seemed during peak times (dinner and before bed) it dropped significantly which tells me everyone is on the same line. There isn’t really a safe place to walk the dogs as you could hear the coyotes in the wide open field all night and underwear man’s dog ready to pounce. Only one row of sites is FHU, the others are W/E only, yet the dump station is positioned in a very strange spot on the campground that makes it impossible to get to. There is one dumpster at the very end of the campground, which because the camp is really small, isn’t a huge deal but if you leave early or depart late, it’s not lit and was surrounded by trash pandas. I ended up leaving with the trash still in the back of the truck. The entry into the camp is filled with gnarly potholes and getting around isn’t easy. The turns are pretty tight and with the long term residents mostly in the back, makes for some interesting maneuvering. You couldn’t pay me to stay here again.

It has good access right off I-55, set on what Missouri calls "outer roads", basically very long frontage roads that follow the interstate. Use the site for a day or few days' rest from travel. Take a ride along the Mississippi River if you want; check out some of the local businesses/tourism. We enjoyed travelling to New Madrid, about a 1/2 drive, a place with a lot of history.

We called Bootheel a few hours from arrival in early January, and there were plenty of spaces, so we headed in. When we arrived at the campground (CG), there was a sign at the self check-in that there was no water due to the recent heavy rains and flooding. Water was on in the showers and laundry but not the sites. That put us in a bit of a pickle as we found out on the day before departing our home base that our water pump was not pulling water and making a terrible noise. Having been to this CG before, we just figured we'd get a FHU site and deal with the water pump when we reached warmer weather. However, there was no water fill available, and we had very little water in the tank. We could have planned better for this had we been told about the water situation when we called. We drove around to the back row where FHU sites 40 - 45 were available. We chose 43, which had the least flooding. As we had just departed from our home base near St. Louis, we didn’t need to dump, and that was a good thing as the sewer might be full due to the flooding. We carry a spare water pump, and during the replacement, we found that the filter part had cracked, so we removed that part, and we were back in business. We had overnighted here several times before with no issues. They did not offer a discount for the inconvenience.

The lady on the phone taking my reservation was very pleasant and texted me directions to park and how to register because it was the weekend and they were not open. The sight was gravel and very level. Very easy on and off Highway but the noise did not bother me at all. Had showers and laundry and full hookups. Large sight to walk my dog and very large dumpster. Also Good Sam’s discount. Really liked my stay here.

Our RV GPS and the directions provided by email took us right to this small campground off of I-55 for an overnighter. Check-in was no contact at the office. They provided a park map and info sheet. The site number was on the payment envelope. We then drove to pull through site 41 with FHUs. Site 41 was on the last row, which had the 50 AMP sites. The first three rows in the park were 30 AMP. The site was just long enough for our rig and we had to unhitch. Site lengths vary throughout the CG and there were several very large rigs in for the night. The very nice maintenance guy came by to help us get settled and answer any questions. He stated that the WiFi was a bit spotty (and it was) but the cable company was currently laying new fiber optic cable lines so WiFi should be much better in the future. No cable, but we got a decent variety of OTA channels but not all the major networks. There was plenty of area to walk our dogs along the adjacent cotton fields. They also had a very nice laundry facility that was decently priced. As we are based near St. Louis, MO area and traveling to northern Mississippi once a year for RV maintenance, this no frills campground makes a perfect overnighter for future trips.

If no one is present, you simply choose a site, fill out the sheet for that site and put it in their drop box with your method of payment. The sites are level and have good power and water. The park is well laid out and easy to drive through which helped arriving after dark go smoothly. There is a bit of noise from the interstate, as it is very close. Though the park is right near the interstate, it is about 6 miles from the exit off of 55 to get to it. Site 42 and some of the sites and roads around it were pretty muddy but it was manageable. Overall, a good place to stay and we’ll do it again, when passing through.

Nice, no-frills park. Good power and water. Spacious, level gravel sites with easily traversed interior roads. Internet is ok for checking email but don’t expect to stream anything. The only thing keeping this park from a 5 rating is the highway noise. It's pretty significant. I don't know who the Einstein is at MODOT that decided to put the shoulder growlers right on the shoulder lines instead of outside them, but he should be FIRED!! Constant traffic noise isn't bad, but those growlers are MUCH louder than regular traffic going by. Be prepared to run a fan or A/C to drown it out. We did have a ignorant dog owner right next door who ignored the "dogs must be on a leash" rule every single day, but that's not the park's fault.
