“A Pleasant Overnight, Indeed. ”

Arrived around 5-6 pm. After parking our 20 foot bus we explored the area on foot. Cool lava rocks to climb, but did not venture too far from the site. Cooked dinner and watched the sunset. A few camper vans and truck campers drove down the road after we came in, plenty of locals up to their Idaho shenanigans. No signs to indicate an actual site, nor was there a fire pit. Although plenty of TP to indicate this site get some use. Left early in the morning for an adventure at Craters of the Moon! Wouldn’t stay more than a night, but definitely a convenient stop.
ThreeCats would stay here again

I actually didn’t stay at this site. I found it while walking the dogs on Blizzard Mountain Road. I wish I had known about. I would have stayed there instead of the Lava Campground at Craters of the Moon National Monument. That campground is small with very few campsites that can accommodate a 34’ motorhome and TOAD, and it’s non-reservation, so you takes your chance at getting a campsite.
Blizzard Mountain Road is a well graded and relatively smooth gravel road. I would take my 34’ motorhome down the road no problem. The campsite is essentially a turnout on the right side. It’s level and easily big enough for my MOHO. If you were pulling a TOAD, you’d have to disconnect prior to backing in.
The site is totally open to the sky for solar exposure.
