It was a good experience, easy to access.
There’s a famous bouldering rock across the highway. The river is right there and it’s gorgeous. Clean public restrooms. NO SERVICE, but I felt safe. 🤍

We arrived between 4 and 5 pm on a Monday afternoon and started looking for a site in a BLM CG along 128 starting with the closest, Goose Island. We were unable to find a site until we reached Big Bend where we found a spot in the overflow area across the street from the main CG. These are only $15. It is also possible to stay in a group site for $25 as long as you check the posted calendar to ensure that no one has reserved it and that it has not been already occupied. There seems to be a camaraderie amongst folks scurrying to find a site for the night with offers to stay in an already occupied site since they can all accommodate 2 vehicles. We were so excited to get a site that we offered to let another campervan park next to us. And we were offered the same by other campers. Nice vibe! The CG is beautiful with towering red rocks on one side and access to the river on the side of the CG proper. Right by the road but there is very little traffic after bedtime.

It is right next to the highway so is somewhat noisy. Since I had a senior lifetime pass it only cost me $10/night. The Colorado River was a short walk from the campsite and the towering bluffs made it a beautiful site.

Stayed here for 10 days. Great value compared to the private parks in town. Would have given it a 5 except the site next to us was over filled with disrespectful people for one night. Campground was filled by 9:00 every morning so you need to get there early to get a site.

I agree with mostly everything in the previous review. It's a basic campground, but that's ok because no one is spending any time here. And yes, you are right off of a main road. The scenery around the campground is beautiful though, and you are right on the Colorado River. There is so much to do in the area- Moab is just a 15 min drive and Arches and Canyonlands are 30-45 min away as well. There are also quite a few of BLM hikes to take the dogs on, and tons of river activities (rentals or tours available in town). Pit toilets were fairly clean over Memorial Day weekend, and the place was PACKED.
There are a series of about 6 or so of these BLM campgrounds dotted along the Colorado River just outside of Moab, none that take reservations. They all seem to be basically the same, so we just drove through and grabbed the first free site we saw. We spoke to a Ranger who said these campgrounds are packed from basically President's Day-Thanksgiving. You will probably have a better chance of grabbing a spot mid-week or early in the morning. And I will note that people are VULTURES. We knew it would be a busy weekend, so snagged a spot on Wednesday while we stayed up at Green River until Friday because we needed internet. We paid, (we even paid for 2 extra days just to hold the site) put our tag out and left a few things in the site, knowing we would be back on Friday. When we got there, our stuff had been moved as had our ticket and there were people in our spot! It created a ridiculous amount of havoc for us that day trying to find the people and get them out out of our site. So, be prepared and leave something substantial at your site if you pay in advance and plan to come back.
No cell service here. Maybe 1 bar of 3G on Verizon that allowed us to send/receive some texts, but not 100% of the time.

That's about all to say about this campground. Other descriptors would be overcrowded, the most highway noise I have ever heard from before dawn until after dusk, and cars driving the camp road all hours as well. Unfortunately there are not a lot of other options in Moab these days. No cell service.
