First:How did we pay $4 night? That reflects half of our $8 reservation fee for our 2 night fee. We got our site for free as my husband has the Oregon State Park disabled veteran pass. He is disabled from his stint in Vietnam. Why I am telling you this, is unlike other states, you do not have to be an Oregon resident to get this pass! In fact, our son and DIL moved to Oregon, and we got the pass by mail while we still lived in the Midwest. There were a few hoops to jump through but once you get it, it is good for 2 years.....and gets you 10 nights of free camping per month...including FHU sites if available. Renewal is easy, something like returning the postcard they send you.
Second: We stayed here the first 2 nights they opened. And there are a few changes...Restrooms we're open, and cleaned, but they haven't reopened the showers. Yurts and cabins are also unavailable. Campsites are only available by reservation/ no FCFS camping. Unless you previously made a reservation, like we had, there is only a 2 week ahead reservation window, instead of the normal 9 months. So keep this in mind if you want to camp here.
Oregon has a low rate of covid19, due to our early lockdown; but as things are in phase 1, it's getting worse. I suspect that is why there is only a 2 week window, so they can close things down again.

Price reflects a 30 amp water/electric, pull thru site. We had originally reserved a FHU site, but after arriving found it to be very unlevel, the pavement heaved from tree roots. We had to track down a park ranger to find another site, but all FHUs were booked for the upcoming Veterans Day weekend. We opted for water/electric and received a refund for the difference within 3 days. Nearby shower/restrooms were closed for renovation but we drove to one in another loop and were pleased with the facilities and cleanliness. Lots of nature trails throughout the park, and we were able to eBike to nearby Otter Crest Loop to visit Devil's Punchbowl and Cape Foulweather. Verizon disappoints here as usual but ATT was good enough to stream. This is a good, central location for visiting both Lincoln City and Newport, as well as Cape Perpetua further south. Very quiet until the weekend but I'm sure summer weekends are rockin'.

Star gazing was awesome. Would highly recommend. Newport is a very short drive with lots to do. Breweries, wineries, dinner with sea lions (Clearwater Beach Restaurant), gift shops, dispensaries, Newport has a lot to do, at least for an older couple with no children.

This camp is the top of our list. Clean, quiet, wooded, private, great beach, Yaquina lighthouse to the south, Devil’s Punch Bowl to the north. Quick drive to Newport. The only things to remember is that loops A and B get a little noise from the highway and 2/3 of the sites are “standard” which do not have septic. Full sites have septic.

We are new to (Travel trailer) camping and out of the 5 campgrounds that we have made it to so far this year, this has been our favorite.
Relatively quiet throughout the day and night, very close to a nice beach and most importantly, sites with partial privacy.
WiFi is non-existent and Verizon was spotty with no data and occasional voice access - perfect for disconnecting!
Road and spots are very tight for mowing larger rigs.

Nice atmosphere with friendly rangers. Very dog friendly (dogs allowed on beach and walking trails). Plenty of fun stuff to do around there. Check out the nearby lighthouse. It's gorgeous.
The bad:
Power was weak. I tripped the breaker multiple times even though I have used plenty of 30 amp sites so I know what I can and cannot use on 30 amps.
Connectivity:
Verizon very slow w/out booster. With booster, 3mpbs d/l.
Att was strong. 3mbps w/out booster, 8 with.
T mobile was not usable
Lots of OTA channels coming in clear (major networks etc)

Stayed here in mid August 2017. This is a huge campground with a large variety of campsites. Generally, the closer to the beach you get, the more packed in you are and the cooler/windier the climate. We chose a site at the back of the campground and it was a nice pull through with adequate space for out 50' truck and trailer. It was much warmer and sunnier there too, which is nice when the summer temps don't get much above the 60's
The check-in was awesome and they let us in early since out site was available. There are 4 lanes for check-in and they all get used when busy. There is also a dump station, but it is old and a single lane and tight turns. We did not use it on this trip but did in the past. Typical Oregon State Parks bathrooms and showers, but also had laundry.
Bikes come in handy for getting around the camp ground, and your pass to the campground is good for the day use area so you can drive down to access the beach. There is a small store near the campground entrance that sells basic groceries, beer, wine and kitsch. Newport is a short drive up the road and has everything you need.
Lots and lots of oblivious people walking and children riding bikes and playing in the middle of the camp roads so use caution when driving. Roads are narrow.
We stayed across from a camp host whose dog would bark incessantly every morning at 7 AM for a brief time. Go figure.

Folks seem to prefer the B loop due to the proximity to the beach, but honestly if I had to do it over, I'd pick one of the back loops on the creek; the sites are private (and dark if you need solar) thanks to expertly maintained trees and foliage. B loop is close to the entrance, the traffic and the highway bridge noise - which you walk under to reach the huge and deserted beach. We spent lots of time on long walks or cruising our bikes through the site loops checking out the population.
