At noon on a summer Monday it was 60% full and then 100% by 5pm. Beyond the view its a typical campground though with less privacy than most. Feels more like a no-amenity RV park, just good for a very brief stay.

We arrived at 12:00 pm and the park was almost empty. We picked a spot in Loop A for a good view of Devil's Tower and no neighbor in front of us. The rounded pull-thru spots may be a little challenging for bigger rigs (36 ft Class A) but definitely do-able (some are more level or curved than others). Camping fees are on the honor system but the Park Rangers and Camp Hosts do patrol. We hiked from the edge of the campground (paved path to auditorium, through the Prairie Dog Town, across the road, then up to Red Beds Trail (first part is steep then its rolling as it winds around Devil's Tower). When we reached the Visitor's Center, the Sturgis Bike Rally had the parking lot FULL! We continued on the paved, rolling 1.3 mile Tower Trail then back down to the campground. It took us two hours at a moderate pace (stopped to take lots of pics when we got out of breath. The view down on the Belle Fourche valley from Red Beds is amazing! By the time we returned at 4:00 pm, the park was mostly full of campers (3 fifth wheels, 4 class A's and the rest were van or tent campers). Take lots of water.

No hook ups. No dump station. No showers. Plenty of space between sites. Campground empties out pretty quickly in the morning and is nearly full by the end of the day. At least... that was our experience.
If you're running solar, you might stugglw to keep you batteries charged as the campground is pretty shady.
Verizon cell coverage was decent, but had a few dropped calls. If you have a booster, you'll probably be golden.
Overall, highly recommend for a few nights!

I'll just add my praise to the other positive reviews. I arrived mid-afternoon on the first Sunday in October. There were lots of spaces open and I easily found one that was flat and fit my 34' motorhome plus my tow car. The setting is more like a park than a campground. I lucked out in that there were no generators being run during my visit. (I rejoiced in my new solar installation that allowed me to be generaror-free for the evening!) Generator hours are 8am - 8pm. It was early fall and many folks enjoyed an evening camp fire. The smell brought back many memories at first, but became a little much with such a proliferation!
I checked out the restrooms and they were impeccable. No showers or other services, but easy access to clean potable water. As noted, there is no dump. My Verizon cell service was a very weak 1-2 bars 4G, but my cell phone booster made for 3-4 bars.
The nightly rate is $12, but only $6 if you have a National Park Senior Pass.
I only stayed one night but wished I had more time. I believe there is a 14 day limit. You will be glad you came if you visit this area!

Note: you WILL have to pay an additional $10 to get into the national monument before you pay for your campsite, so if you are a bit stingy (like me) you're looking realistically at a $22 night. That being said, the bathrooms were the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen at a campsite, there was a huge pile of free firewood, the view was amazing and I really lucked out with beautiful weather. The National Monument in general is great as well, if you turn left out of the campsite you'll come to a really nice scenic overlook after about a mile (perfect place for a breakfast beer and some postcard writing)
The sites are close together, but everyone was beyond friendly while I was there, and quiet.
There was a guy using a really loud generator in the site next to mine, but they have to shut them off by 8pm so that's really not all that bad.

With large trees providing shade and blocking just enough of your view of the tower to keep it mysterious, the campground is the place to stay when exploring the park. Good amount of space between sites with each having a fire ring and table. Bathrooms are nearby. The only real complaint is that the sites are all pull through in nearly a U-shape, usually with a tree blocking some access. Getting larger trailer in, and more importantly back out can be difficult or impossible.

I'm going to give this one 5 stars, despite it being a bit noisy for me. I decided to try and camp here on Memorial Day Weekend: I had a momentary lapse of sanity and intelligence.
Actually, I arrived to the campground at about 2:30PM Sunday, the day before Memorial Day. At that time, the campground was at most halfway full. Some people were even packing up to leave camp at that time, opening more spots. It did fill up a good bit before sunset, however, and some people driving through were left to go find camping elsewhere.
Basically, everything about this spot was very nice for a developed campground in a popular national monument. It was clean, Verizon LTE was really good, and the views of Devils Tower were well, views of devils tower.
I hiked out on the trail leading right off of the campground, paying only slight attention to the warnings of Tularemia. Basically all of the trails around the monument are connected in one way or another, so you don't even have to drive too much to see most of what is available, if you don't want to.
Probably something worth noting if you have pets and kids: tularemia has been found in the prairie dog town just outside of the campground.
I would stay here again, although I'd probably shoot for a less busy time, just for my own personal preference.

We were there early in the season so the campground was mostly empty for most of our stay. That allowed us to snag site B18 which had probably the best view of the tower in the entire campground. In addition, we had a large grassy yard and the river went past our site.
Our reported cell service is with a booster. Without the AT&T was pretty iffy, but the Verizon still decent.

Nope, there were many spots open, and I don't think the campground filled to capacity that night. Sweet! The sites were large, and the bathrooms were clean. It was easy to walk back across the road and access the hiking trail that circles the Tower to the Visitor Center.
The only blight was the guy running an industrial generator the took up half of his pickup bed; you could hear it, literally, a mile away. He did shut it down when the "generators curfew" took effect, but all evening you could hear it, very annoying. We had a great view of the Tower and want to come back when we have more time to explore.
