Only new development - both bathrooms locked around the clock while we were here, Friday afternoon through Saturday. Otherwise all the good things still apply.

We stayed two nights here in late April 2024. There was a cold snap going thru the Midwest, so be aware that can happen. Here's answers to a few of my "big rig" questions I didn't see in other reviews. The people at the phone number will call back and answer questions, too.
There was a tornado in 2014. Some of the google satellite views are pre-tornado. You get to the campground by following the blue camping signs. That is, on the west of town, turn onto Dimery Ave; then right onto Omaha St which turns left and becomes Elk St. Straight ahead on Elk street are the white columns that are the entrance to the park. Pre-tornado, they had an arch over them (unsure the height) but that arch is gone now. Big rigs can get through here. After entering the park, the immediate first left is the campground. You drive into a big dirt circle which has good maneuverability. It is surrounded by a wide gravel section. The electric and water connections are at the back of this gravel section. Pick one and back in. Behind the gravel is lumpy grass and a firepit and a grill. I think technically the "site" was the lumpy grass, but we were alone in the campground, so we stayed on the gravel. This probably would have worked even with neighbors. The nice playground next door has a red spiral slide. If you see a green spiral slide in a photo, that's probably a pre-tornado picture. Signage also changed pre and post tornado. On Elk St, we passed a spot on the left with a dump station drain and connection, but it was unclear if this was for us, who to pay if payment was requested. It is also on the wrong side of the road for campers leaving the campground.
Elk street no longer continues east around the park. That's pre-tornado. Also, when leaving, go back to the west side of town and up to I80 that way. The east access to I80 involves dirt roads. We turned around when we saw that.
York is 20 miles away with major stores, fuel etc.

Flat field with back in spaces. Two others there. Very quiet.
Great playground, pool (seasonal), picnic shelter areas, ball fields, tennis court and basketball court. Trash cans throughout and a dumpster at main entrance. Very clean bathrooms that appear to be open 24/7

Convenient spot to stop on our travels. Spotless bathrooms, potable water and electric hookups for 5. Walking path to stretch your legs, playground for the kids and community pool during the summer. Ball fields and well kept gardens/grounds. Donations accepted (hope all would donate, especially if using electric).

Quiet, shady, peaceful little city park in Beaver Crossing, NE, population ~375. Unattended, paid $10 donation. Has electric and water, picnic shelters.
Only eatery is Beaver Creek Corner Bar and Restaurant, which is closed Mon., Tues., Weds. So on those days bring your own meal. No supermarket visible in town.

I had decent signals on Verizon, T-mobile, and AT&T - enough for streaming anyway. There is a bar-restaurant you can walk to in 5 minutes. There is also a large hardware store in town. Coming in from highway 80E/420, just follow the signs to the campground. There is a nice walking trail around the park, and there is a playground and a pool here.
Max stay is 3 days, but you can contact the city if you'd like to stay longer. There is a donation box at the entrance to the campground/parking lot.
I found it to be very quiet, even on a Friday night.

We parked in the main area but later discovered that there is another spot for other campers that is by the ball field (that also has electricity). There are not designated spots to park. In the main area, there are 5 electrical hookups. We just parked in the grass since we left early in the morning.
The bathrooms are very clean. Cell service was bad with AT&T and T-Mobile. It would come and go but basically useless. Playground is nice if you have kids.
The camping is free but they accept donations

We remembered this site from a couple of years ago when we camped. Thought we would try it out again. We were delighted.
No other campers.
Water and electric hookups.
Bathrooms open and clean. Flush toilets.
Peaceful. Quiet. A real gem.
Had a chance to watch the locals play baseball.
Donations accepted.

We were going to stay at a different free camping site in Beaver Crossing, but a gentleman came by and told us that we would have less wind at the site in town. We decided to check it out and ended up staying at the camp in town. He was right, much less wind issues in town. We were the only ones at the camp that night, which was fine. We had a fire ring, picnic tables, and bathrooms all to ourselves. The bathrooms looked brand new, clean and fully stocked with product. Nice playground. There's a little highway noise, not an issue. The stars were gorgeous, even in town.
