Vacationing in Door County, Wisconsin has a particular charm and vibe all its own -- tart cherries, beautiful sunsets, boutique shops galore, Great Lakes maritime culture, wineries/distilleries, Peninsula State Park, and not a single chain restaurant on the island. Such is the perfect backdrop to park a travel trailer in order to enjoy all that Door County has to offer, and Bailey's Grove Travel Park and Campground provided a perfect "home base" to enjoy the week here on the island. Our campsite, 402, was a pull-thru with water and electric hookup.
Check-in was fast, efficient, and very friendly as the camp hostess verified our reservation and led us with her Club Car to our campsite. The site itself was very roomy and the electrical/water hookup was solid with no issues; the Wi-Fi was strong and reliable at the site, too. The camp hosts were always available via telephone or by going up to the office where, if you were uncomfortable to enter the building due to covid-19 concerns, no problem --- they would go up to the window and were always pleasant. One nice aspect of their service was they would deliver ice and firewood right to the campsite. In addition, the "honey wagon" made its rounds on Mondays and Thursdays to meet any site-pumping needs for $20.
The first night of our arrival, we just set everything up at our site and then a thunderstorm pretty much dominated the evening. The campground had a significant amount of water pool in certain areas where there were low spots or place in need of flood mitigation. Something for the owners of the campground to think about -- grating areas, raising RV pads, maybe concrete slabs in places, wider diameter for drainage -- but those are all things that impact ANY built-up area...I think it would be unfair to use that as a blemish to this review.
By morning, the sun was shining, air was warm, and summer returned to Door County! The pool at the campsite was a nice amenity that my wife and daughter enjoyed and for those with kids, a small, clean playground was also accessible. The camp staff were fairly visible -- several times a day there were camp hosts patrolling the area for trash, recycling, and other general maintenance. Showers and toilets at the campground were clean -- very clean, and areas were marked off for social-distancing purposes.
Even though the campground was full, the noise level was reasonable -- there were no loud, obnoxious parties nor questionable shenanigans. To the contrary, there were many families just trying to enjoy Door County amidst a global pandemic! That said, people seemed pretty friendly while, at the same time, keeping to themselves. The layout of the campsite is smart -- one-way drives to allow for safe traffic control and each site angled in such a way to maximize the space at each site. The size of the grounds itself is large enough for taking the dogs (we have two German Shepherds) on their walks and for kids to ride their bikes with plenty of room for getting some exercise...we saw tons of kids on their bikes.
Throughout the week, we saw people come and go -- tent campers, small travel trailers, large fifth-wheel, along with motorhomes (class A, B, and C). Bailey's Grove Travel Park Campground easily accommodated them all with plenty of separation and space. As for our experience, we love Bailey's Harbor and now that we've found this particular campground, we are already looking forward to spending more time here next summer.

The bathrooms were spotless and the water was the perfect temperature. We had a wonderful time, the location is great. We were able to enjoy town with ease. The only drawback was we had some senior neighbors who felt the need to berate us over our music (which wasn’t loud), there tv programs were being interrupted.

First off we want to thank the owners, staff and part time RV'ers that help take care of the property, every single one of them was accommodating and made our stay awesome! We would gladly stay again!
We stayed here in October. We had two good days with rain, and although they attempted to grade and fill some of the pot holes in the camp roads, they came back with the heavy rain. Some spots (602, 702, 706) were mostly useless with heavy rain, with the entire pad and grass area in 2+ inches of water.
With reservation, you don't get to pick a spot, and if you want cable, you can ask for one with cable TV. 903-911,706-708 have cable TV hookups that we saw.
The showers (mens) had limited privacy due to configuration, and the water was not that hot (even after it was fixed the first day we were here). There is a secondary shower room (handicap-able) in the Recreation building, that is a single room, toilet, shower, sink, with much hotter water.
The only real drawback are the campers. On weekends (festival weekend) it was somewhat noisy until 10-10:30pm all though quite time is 10pm.
It also seems that many of the local (state) campers can't seem to mind any rules. They would walk through other campsites, noisy, rugs on the grass, park in other camp sites (vacant).
The biggest issues is blocking of the roads, as the locals seem to think that they can just block the drive lines while cleaning up, packing up. At least two campers just hooked the truck up, then took 30-45 minutes to pack up all the junk, hoses, chairs, and such while blocking the only way out for 6 other campers, and at least 2 were waiting to go. Another camper just parked in the main drive, stopped blocking most of the road, where another camper could not exit, just to talk to another camper while packing up. EVERY camper that did this had Wisconsin Plates, none of the out of state campers pulled this nonsense.
Just a note to the owners, your place is nice and tidy, but spotting these actions and telling folks to get their gear in order before blocking anyone in is just common courtesy. And I'd only otherwise want the shower water to be a little hotter as well as a little more heat in the shower rooms. Also, every day the leaf blower around the bathroom is just noisy at 8:30am and we all appreciate the level of detail, but that task should be pushed to later in the day.
