Easy access up FS 477. We were scoping out a possible place to stay for 3 or 4 nights in April, but we drove the entire road where the Avery Creek sites are located (NFS states 10 sites) and didn't see one where we could stay with our 19' trailer. All the parking is right off the road, with only room for a car(s) or perhaps in a pinch, a van. Having backpacked and tent camped most of my life, while it is in a beautiful forest setting and the sites were not right on top of each other, they mostly seemed close to the road. If you were looking for a base camp in a tent to mountain bike, then they would be fine, but certainly not spectacular.

Drove through all full sites Sunday night , but were able to find an available site Monday morning.
30 minutes from DuPont it was a good place to get a few different rides in.
Jaclyn would stay here again

These sites fill up quickly and many are intended for tent camping, but we found one with a big enough parking area to fit our truck and 16 ft camper. Just a mile from the stables it was a perfect commute for a couple of mountain bikers looking to get a few days of riding in. 15 minutes from downtown Brevard, I’d happily stay here ... more

We drove here to camp but it was all blocked off with a sign explained why they closed due to people not respecting the campground. On the website it said it would open back December 21st 2020 but they might close it down for good. Could be a good place to camp if it was opened. Side note, be a good person and pick up your trash..... more

There are a number of spots along a forest service road that are marked with a ⛺ sign that allow camping. Not the most private spots as cars will drive by looking for their own spots but a good location and easy to access. They appear to be first come first serve. No amenities here just a spot to park the truck and pitch a tent or two.... more

No amenities here just a spot to park the truck and pitch a tent or two. This means that you have to pack out all your waste but that's a small price to pay for the easy access for quick getaways!
