“Camp host=👎🏼; Worst 12 Hours ”

Campground “host” Keith is unfit to be a host and horrible to deal with. He verbally harassed us and threatened to call the sheriff on us after we arrived to an nearly EMPTY campground in the pitch dark at about 9:30 PM for a 1 night stay on Thursday of Christmas week. There is no signage to indicate which is a double site. According to the horrid “host” at 10PM (after he came around with his mag light shining in our site and trying to open our camper door) that in the pitch dark you are just supposed to know which site is a double or not. God forbid you already put your kid to bed and were settled in and have to encounter this power tripping “host.” HORRIBLE.
If you think you can write a check or pay with card, you are mistaken. You must have cash or the “host” will call the sheriff. There is no cell service there. There is no other facilities within an hour of the campground. We weren’t there long enough to enjoy anything about the campground and fully regret attempting to experience it. After having to move sites in the empty campground to appease the psycho (or go to jail), we have decided that this campground is probably just a portal to hell. I wish I had something good to say about this experience but honestly I just want to erase the whole 12 hours from my mind. The pics here looked amazing. We were super excited to experience it. Such a shame.

“One of our favorites so far!”

The online booking system wasn’t the most cooperative but since it was in a pretty secluded area we decided to try our luck on a Friday without reservations. There were plenty of spots open and all had great amount of room for our RV and truck and plenty of space between camp sites. The national forest employee and campground host were both extremely easy going and helpful. Beautiful river with day use area walking distance from the campground was perfect for a dip with our tubes to cool down (in the 90° days of late October!). Not super strict on dogs as we’ve found a lot of California camping can be (maybe since it is a federal spot, not state). The roads to get there are pretty narrow and curvy, no dump site and no cell coverage on either Verizon or Sprint but nothing we couldn’t handle. We would have loved to stay another night if we weren’t low on groceries, and if we’re ever back in this area I would love to stay here again!
