Beautiful April weekend, only 3 or 4 other sites in use the one night we were there. Tons of informal trails for the kids to explore the woods and creek. The reservable group sites look really nice and super private. Those are the only places we noticed running water; none in the rest of the campground.

The sites are not too close but real small. We backed in at an angle and just fit. Next time we will not camp in Summer or we will go higher to one of the next campgrounds. Its a long and winding road just to find the place full. There are only 11 or 12 spaces per campground and no reservations, so you gotta be an earlybird !

We made our way up to Arcadia campground in hopes of checking out how our new heater would work in Jose the Campulance. Swift trail Road 366 is a curvy, narrow in spots paved road. The road stayed dry until about 6000 ft, with snow patches on the North side switchbacks of the mountain. This was our first venture driving on snow with our rig (25 ft 2000 Freightliner FL60). The Arcadia campground has a slight decline as you enter and we pulled up into the first spot we saw. The campground is very nice, manicured spaces, each with a picnic table and fire ring/grill, trash receptacles, and two vault toilets. We were the only ones there the evening we stayed.
We snowshoed a couple miles on the Arcadia trail that was easily accessible from the upper Arcadia CG (one we want to explore in the future).
Although we felt the fee was a bit high, we would return to the area!
We had only one spotty bar with Verizon, but walking a little up the road gave two spotty bars. We were slightly surprised about the amount of vehicles that were driving up the road during the day, especially with the snow packed slushy roads (we did see one truck get stuck), but overall we had a quiet and peaceful night of sleep.
**For anyone that is wondering, our high altitude diesel heater worked great at 6680 feet. And...for that slight decline entering the CG...quote from hubby "some good old Colorado bad decisions gave me a wealth of get outta the situation knowledge". Be prepared if snow is on the ground! :)

Wow, beautiful spot. Drive up is on a narrow paved road. We took our 25’ class c and would say that is the limit (both for the road and the site length). Vault toilets immaculate, trash and recycling bins, nice picnic tables and grills. Was a great stay in March - only ones in the campground.
