I had my doubts about what I might find at this rather out of the way campground in the middle of corn country of west central Illinois. If anything it would be flooded, closed due to COVID or neglected and run down. But not at all. The roads leading to it from Astoria were great and in fact, some of Hwy 100 was in the process of being resurfaced. 100 campsites, non-specified - pick your spot anywhere in the north or south area. Lots of grills and picnic tables, water spigots spread around and several vault toilets. The dump station was very easy to access and Terry the host had piles of firewood and was friendly. Swimming isn't allowed in the lake due to wildlife probably but small boating is though I didn't see a ramp. Cypress trees line the shore making it a charming view. This was the middle of the week so no telling how things might be on the weekend. But if you want to paddle, fish or float, you could do a lot worse for $8. Just like the rest of the mid-Mississippi valley, the big carries are absent - US Cellular is all there is. We could roam slowly using T-Mobile.
Wandering Pulse would stay here again
