It will be hot, plus you are hitting it mid-week so you should have a really great option for good spots. I recommend getting there at "Sun up" and not later than 9:30 as people arrive early. As you drive in, the spots to the left will be more shaded but less mountaintop view... Spots to the right, better view but more sun and more wind. The first 1/4 mile of Movie Road has cell coverage, then after that not even my cell booster could grab signal. That's why you will see a bunch of spots immediately on the right that are popular. Alabama Hills can get pretty crowded during the Summer months and you may need to search to find a campsite but should be able to locate a spot.

I camped there frequently mid-week last summer and fall, and I never had any trouble finding a suitable spot for my Toyota Sienna minivan.

Unprecedented times... hard to predict. Have stayed there several times in Winter/Spring and totally full when we drove in 3 weeks ago. So did not stay.

It can get pretty busy in this area during the summer months as more people are out traveling. As others has stated, if you are going during the week it will be easier to find and spot. The area is pretty big so it is usually not hard to find somewhere to park. If you want to get one of the coveted spots tucked in close to the cool rocks, try to go earlier and on a week day. Have fun! its a really cool place

My best guess is mid summer it will get busy. We were just out there first week of April and it was pretty busy but..... there is tons of room for everyone to enjoy. And if you get there early and check out the lay of the land you’ll fine a perfect spot.
