There is a lot of people but this is wide enough to find a quieter spot! Down at the dam section, this is the best (less wind)

Beautiful location and free! The location is about 30-miles east of Banff National Park’s northern gate. There is no cell coverage until you get to this spot on the far eastern edge of the lake so make sure you know where you are going before you set off. Gas is also sparse in this part of the world so be prepared. The campground has a few pit toilets but no other amenities to speak off.
The camping area sits on the edge of the lake and the lake is an amazingly beautiful rich blue reservoir surrounded by mountains. One of our favorite spots in the Canadian Rockies… did I mention that it is free!
Verizon (Telus) 2-bars LTE. T-mobile (Bell) 2-bars LTE. The WeBoost really helped shore up the signal to make this a viable area to work as the area is located on the edge of the service area.

This is a favourite of ours. And now they’ve added washrooms!
The short drive in is bumpy but well worth it.
Strong TELUS LTE cellular service

Tons of sites, basically you can turn off anywhere along the lake and find an unoccupied spot. We got lucky with the second pullout we tried (we say the one we were headed for, that these GPS coordinates point to was occupied already). Some aren't appropriate for trailers/RVs, but there's a little something for everyone. There is also some reserve land around that isn't available for recreation use, but these turn offs are well marked and generally gated.
The site we found had a fire pit and lots of wood around, so we had a fire and watched the stars. A little road noise, and freaky howling wolves, but the view of the night sky and the mountains/lake in the morning more than made up for it.
