Great Spot. Easy To Get To And I Would Venture To Say You Can Get A Big Rig If You Wanted To. Got Our 31ft Jayco In No Problem At All. Plenty Of Space. Great View Overlooking The Forest. Secluded From Other Campsites. Definitely A Gem.

Site 10 was spacious and up on the hill, just 30 minutes from downtown Auburn. It took 5 minutes to get a permit from the ranger station and it was nice to know our space was guaranteed for us that evening. You can get there two ways, the road 908 by 29 one was quite covered by shrubbery and our little teardrop barely fit, so be ad... more
Site 10 was spacious and up on the hill, just 30 minutes from downtown Auburn.
It took 5 minutes to get a permit from the ranger station and it was nice to know our space was guaranteed for us that evening.
You can get there two ways, the road 908 by 29 one was quite covered by shrubbery and our little teardrop barely fit, so be advised.
About 4 miles of travel on dirt roads to get to this site.

We chose this site based on reviews and location as we were heading back to Florida from the Georgia Traverse. Getting to the site was no issue, and the site was big with beautiful views. We chose this site based on reviews and location as we were heading back to Florida from the Georgia Traverse. Getting to the site was no issue, and the site was big with beautiful views. There was trash, bullet casings, clothing, and beer cans everywhere. We cleaned up the site as best as we could. With the Corona Virus shitting everything down the locals were out to play. Throughout the night there trucks flying up and down the road, skidding at our site. My kids were freaked out. Around 1am someone was driving around shooting. Frustrating and long night. Took a cruise through the forest on the way out and couldn’t believe the amount of trash everywhere. Wish people would respect nature, one day they’ll get it closed for all of us.

Tuskegee NF only allows dispersed camping in specific cleared campsites, and only sites 6 and 10 are suitable for RVs. Of the two, #10 is clearly the better site. Tuskegee NF only allows dispersed camping in specific cleared campsites, and only sites 6 and 10 are suitable for RVs. Of the two, #10 is clearly the better site. It sits on the top of a hill with nice views across the forest, and it offer a nice large and fairly level camping area. As of March 2018, there was recent logging activity around site #6 and the view of timber piles is not appealing at all. Obtaining a camping permit from the ranger station located just off state road 186 is easy and free.
Access is a little dicey. The forest roads are fairly well-maintained, but they are not wide enough for two-way traffic. Forest Road 908 which gets to site 10 has sections with fairly steep grade (7%) in the area between the ranger station and the site. Also, 908 is fairly level on the way out of the forest to US 29, but in the last 100 yards has very low overhanging branches making it impossible to tow out that way.
The site is along an equestrian trail, so watch out for horse poop around the campsite. We were disappointed with the amount of litter at the site and along the Bartram Trail; we picked up two large garbage bags of bottles and cans from the area immediately around the campsite. The Bartram Trail through the national forest is OK - scenery is pretty similar throughout, but it's a nice hike.
Despite all this, we liked the site quite a bit when we were actually in the site. The views are nice, the sounds of gunfire from the shooting range were distant enough not to be distracting, and of course we loved the price and the solitude. Also, we were here to visit the historic sites in Tuskegee and loved the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site.
Cell service was great thanks to the proximity to I85. We consistently had at least 2 bars LTE on AT&T. Download: 10.4 Mbps Upload: 9.9 Mbps

There are 14 sites, but only two are RV sites. We drove by site 6, but site 10 was the gem out of the two. It's on an overlook, so you look down on the forest. It's a beautiful spot.
We stayed in February for 5 nights. We saw about 10 cars total. It was safe and extremely quiet, it was nice to have campfires under the stars. We would heard coyotes howling in the distance and foxes lurking around our trailer looking for food.
The only issue someone might have is that it's within earshot of a shooting range. You can hear the guns in the distance, but they're not loud at all.
The location isn't that great, you're at least a 15-minute drive from the nearest town. But we liked the secluded sites, perfect, quiet, solitude.
Follow the park ranger's directions on how to get to your site. While we were exploring we came across some downed trees that no rig would have been able to drive under and it would have been a challenge of epic proportions to turn around or drive backwards to another road-- the roads are one lane with pretty big ditches on either side.
Overall, it's a great spot for free dry camping. We could have stayed an entire week.
You need a permit, but you can stay for up to 21 days.
