Plenty of room for our motorhome plus toad. Rainy when we stayed so didn't see the lights. Would stay here again when passing through Marfa

As for 'lights' -- what people were Saying were the Marfa Lights were actually vehicles off in the distance coming down Hwy. 67 into Marfa !?? So 'lights' ???? Maybe or Maybe Not ...... but it was fun to stay and see !!! There were some half dozen 'campers' here overnight from Big Rigs to little pop-ups -- all had a good time !! Right next to roadway so some road noise to 'deal' with.

Pretty quiet, free, and DARK place to spend the night. I didn’t see any mystery lights, but I arrived at around midnight and it was cloudy and cold. Parking was easy, with plenty of space especially on the long driveway driving up. Well-lit, pretty clean bathroom on site, but with no water services.
My phone has T-Mobile which would randomly go in and out of 1 bar of service, then constantly dip down to no service after a couple minutes. So streaming music and video was basically impossible. The surroundings are pretty beautiful though - flat countryside with distant mountains. And of course, it’s super close to Marfa!

Great turnout area to view the mystery lights of Marfa. We saw something - not sure if they were the mystery lights or what. Lots of people pulled in to view. We were there 11/4/19. A little noisy with the highway right there but it didn't bother us.

Well. This is not your usual campsite. This is a roadside rest area, where people park to watch the Marfa Lights south of the parking lot. Years ago this was a pull out, where local kids parked and 'watched' for the lights. These days its a gathering spot for grown ups watching for the mystical lights while traveling Hwy 90. I was too tired from driving 8 hours to get this far, that I'm sorry to say I fell asleep before 11. LOL. But, I have seen them.
You literally pull up and park and just set up camp. You'll have company and visitors from the local towns to keep you company.
Marfa and Alpine are both about 25 miles in opposite directions. Stop and eat, or, pick up dinner on your way and other supplies. Those are also the last cities if you are heading into Big Bend where there is a good selection of supplies.
There is no water, no hook ups and no dumpstation (go to Marfa or Alpine). However, there is the most FANTASTIC pit toilets you have ever seen. OMG, such architectural style! LOL
There is also a nice hiking path, with lots of local info on plaques. Enjoy stretching your legs.
Don't miss Alicia's Burrito Palace or the Reata in Alpine. THose are at two ends of the price spectrum.
Remember to gass up in every town you pass. Gas stations are few and far between and frequently don't get delivery of fuel.
Oh, and once last thing, this rest area is on the Rail Road tracks, be prepared for the sounds.

We had a great evening looking for the Marfa lights (didn’t seem any) and hanging out at the observatory. We parked far away from the bathrooms and slept like a baby.
Be sure to take the time to check out the town of Marfa. It’s very cool and be sure to stop at the Prada Marfa art display just north of Valentine!

Arrive before sunset to see the sky change colors before it gets dark!
Only cons were the lights from the bathroom and the cars coming and going that polluted the darkness.
