Our very first experience with BLM and Campendium and was impressed. Arrived in the dark so hard to direct traffic but open spaces and other campers we felt very comfortable staying here. Take the first road in and wait for the night time star show.

There are signs that say no camping on the drive in. I believe this is for the state park. The BLM land is just before the state park and camping is allowed. Disclaimer: we were there on a Monday. Awesome sites, big enough for our 28’ trailer. Amazing sunset. 35 minute drive from White Sand.

This camping area should be accessible to most campers and vehicles. No trouble with a 17ft TT and noticed several large 5th wheel campers and a class A RV. It is 30 minutes to the entrance of White Sands NP and 20 minutes to Alamogordo. It borders Oliver Lee State Park. This BLM campground is open, but Oliver Lee State Park is only open Thursday-Sunday for New Mexico residents only.
All of the sites seemed generally clean, but keep in mind this is an undeveloped camping area that is not regularly maintained.
Our site was hidden from the road and was somewhat level. For an undeveloped camping area it was very good. We had a great view of the surrounding mountains and watched beautiful sunsets in the afternoon.
Very little noise except for the occasional fighter jets at Holloman AFB, which we enjoyed watching!
Excellent Verizon data speeds. 30Mbps down and 10Mbps up without booster.
There is a KOA in Alamogordo for propane, fresh water, and dump station (25 minutes).

This is a very nice BLM spot right outside the gate of Oliver Lee Memorial State Park (closed to campers due to Covid, no access to dump station or water fill at this time either) and an easy drive into Alamogordo and to White Sands. Plenty of spots to choose from with tons of space to turn around and get situated. There are established sites with fire rings and others more off the beaten path. We had great views and a ton of privacy, there were only a few other campers here at any one time. It is very quiet and clean overall, there was some broken glass around so be careful if you have dogs. Data was great, full bars on Verizon, good signal on T-Mobile/Sprint, intermittent signal on AT&T.

There is a lot of room, though, and it didn't come close to filling up while we were there.
The only drawback were the vicious sticker plants. Plan to wear sturdy shoes while you're there. These things can go right through softer soles and draw blood.
You have been warned!

I stayed here for 4 days enjoying the view while I worked. I had great Verizon service enough to work on my hotspot for 3 days. As a solo female traveler I felt very safe and would 100% stay here again. There is glass in some sites but nothing terrible!

Easy to get to. Plenty of space available on a Sunday evening. The thorn bushes are NO JOKE(even the small ones), so watch where you drive. Lots of level spots to choose from. We pull a 32’ fifth wheel and had no issues

One of our favorite sites yet! This location was clean, quiet, and beautiful. It also had great cell service and was less than 30min from Alamogordo and White Sands NP. We'd highly recommend this place!
