Called ahead and asked if we could stay the night before our planned tour the next day. They said sure, no problem, just park in the bus area. We had the place all to ourselves. Despite looking out on a train yard we heard no train noise during the night. Toured the museum/mine the next day - enjoyed it very much.

I read about this place on Campendium and it sounded interesting. Folks said the tour was fun and informative. So I decided to check it out, and I wasn’t sorry! I would have liked to have had time to do the extended tour, but I didn’t arrive until after the last extended tour had already left. The two hour tour was only $21 plus tax for Seniors over 60. It included a train ride and tram ride through the mine. There were helpful staff all around to answer your questions.
I asked to spend the night in their parking lot and I was told it was fine, and to park in an RV slot. There were several RV slots toward the back of the parking lot. It was level and quiet at night. There are parking lot lights so it felt safe as well.

We surveyed this parking lot on 05/03/2022, and confirmed that the Strataca museum allows 1 night of overnight parking with the purchase of admission. We were awed by the museum tour (which we rate as 9/10) and highly recommend it to others. With our concern about nearby nightly railroad and highway noise, we rate the parking area as 3/5. We would stay here the next time we pass through Hutchinson.

I think if you are a customer and need an overnight stay in an RV or trailer and ASK first they would allow it. It was quiet, a little road noise but not bad, well lit parking lot. The folks in the museum are all very nice and helpful.
