Would it be safe to drive in late at night in a 4WD CRV? It wouldn't be towing anything.

Att great speed. Showed up in complete darkness and had to make our own spot. Most the grass was to tall to camp on keeping people from getting too close but still ended up criwed our last night.

It is 1 mile from the highway. Easy access! I came here very late. There was only one van next to me. The next morning when I looked at outside. It was shocked. Wow, so pretty. It was like heaven.

Arrived 9/4 and stayed 8 nights doing the touristy thing. Grabbed the spot on the left just after the posted cords. Yes there is some highway noise, but faint. We camped here from July 12th through the 15th, 2023. If you watch the video the site we stayed at was at the 6:50 mark in the video. Super easy to get into and no issues with anyone or anything whatsoever. It would be nice if A. the campsites were maybe labeled, and B. if there was a sign saying how close you are getting to the end of the road. I would encourage everyone to watch the video posted above because when you get to the end of the road, you are at the END of the road and it can be a pain to get turned around. Our first morning there we were looking for a site and got to the very end and it was a little sketchy turning around in the dark, being unfamiliar with the terrain. We were driving the wife's Acadia with our small pull-behind trailer and were able to turn around but I would not have wanted to try it with anything bigger.
We camped at that site, which is almost big enough for two parties, and it was relatively level. A fire ring made of rocks was already there but you will need to supply your own firewood as there is hardly any in the area. It is windy however, one day we came back and our tent was flat but thankfully not damaged. One night it rained just a bit but the wind was enough to blow you away. Make sure you stake your tent, canopy, dog, children, mother in law to the ground so you don't lose them. Ok, maybe not the mother-in-law but you get the picture.
If you have a drone it is ok to fly it there since you are not in the park and there are some AMAZING photos and videos to be taken of the area. This site is super close to Medora which is a cute little town but they do not have much in the way of supplies aside from the one small gas station that we could see. So unless you want to drive back to Dickinson every time you need something at Walmart, plan accordingly.

Couldn’t have picked a better spot. Came between 1 and 2 miles in on gravel road and took first gravel road to the right. Up on top… it’s a bit hazey due to Canadian Wild Fires, but still great! Traversed the gravel road in a Class C motorhome without a problem.

It’s a small spread out campground with beautiful views. Don’t need a 4x4 to access sites. Majority of sites suited for smaller RVs. No amenities.
