Only 6 Campsites so it's easy to break it down.
Site 1 & 6 are first come first serve only.
Site 1 - Up front with a round about that people circle around in to find cel reception. It's right at the trail head for a steep hike down to Raspberry Springs
Site 2 - Is where I stayed. Plenty of room to spread out with a short hike behind to a stunning overlook for sunset.
Site 3 - Right next to 2. Closest 2 spots together.
Site 4 - Has the best view without hiking away from camp. A friendly hippie couple was posted there puffing medicine the whole day long.
Site 5 - Fantastic rock formations right in the forefront next to the picnic table and fire ring. Tent pads might be a ways back. But it felt like a multi-level mansion!
Site 6 - Like 5 but better. The camp host told me that if you snag it, you can have it for 14 days. Might be a good spot to host a big party with revolving camp guests......
The walk to Reyes Peak trail head is 30 mins from camp. And it's a huff to the top, but worth it. I did it alone and enjoyed the serenity of a media blackout during the election night(s). Later on, as I was cooking dinner and enjoying some vino @ 7,000ft elevation; a motorcade of sheriff/search and rescue vehicles were headed to the trail head to locate a family that went missing on a hike. I wonder if we wandered down similar paths. Hope they're OK.
When winds rip through here, it is intense. You're essentially on a ridge so enjoy it. Forgot my kite at home. A mistake I won't make again.
Campfires were restricted during my visit. And the host informed me they're only allowed when the fire crew is in the neighborhood. Even if I were allowed to enjoy a camp fire I would do so cautiously. The whole place feels like a tinder box just waiting for a spark to burn down a couple million acres.
Fantastic spot to camp at high altitudes if you're into that sort of thing. My neighbors had to call it a day early since they were feeling queezy neezy. I embraced it with a bottle of cab.
Reagan Bond would stay here again
