I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in site #10, an E/W, BI site for $29/night with a Senior discount (I think you have to ask for this at check in.) NOTE: GPS took me into the wrong location. The campground is off Hardin Road. GPS took me to the Ranger Station. Roads and site were asphalt and were in semi-deteriorating condition (cracked, crumbling, potholes.) The site was very unlevel both side to side and front to back. I ended up dropping my wheels on the high side off the asphalt to have enough boards to level it. Hookups were on the wrong side of the site (I really love crawling under the rig to get my power cord attached.) The picnic table and fire pit were to the back and toward the driver’s side. It was easy to back into as it was right off a curve in the road. There are lots of trees for shade. The bathhouse is a little far from this loop. It was clean and had separate rooms for individual showers. For connectivity I had 2 bars LTE with Verizon, no wifi, no OTA channels (but I saw some folks with reception.) Site 33 was my favorite and was flatter than most (other than the handicap accessible spots.) 1, 3, and 4 were the next best in my opinion. The two PT sites had a significant slope – 4-6” of correction needed. They did have some recycling bins. There is a laundry room at the marina (1 W/D only.) I probably would choose a different campground if I was in this area again due to the sites being so unlevel and the roads being in bad condition.

The sites: The ranger told me that the campground was built in the 70s when campers were smaller, that it needs remodeled, and a remodeling of the sites should be done in 2 years. The issue is that the sites are not level. Some are worse than others. I think the worst site, your hitch for a 30' camper would need to be 5 or 6' in the air to make your trailer level. The ranger said that site #33 is the most level, in his opinion, of all the sites. Most sites are doable. There are some youtube videos on which sites are better and which sites are worst. The 2 sites for the disabled, are very nice and appear to be very level.
Restrooms look new and modern.
There is one trail.
When you enter, the ranger will probably not be there. I did not see a camp host either. I simply went to the site that I had reserved.
When I chose this park, David Crocket SP was full, this one had many openings. I would stay in this park again.
Laundry room. Where is the laundry room? The laundry room is located at the marina office. We had trouble finding anybody who knew where it was.

The site we had was badly sloped with lots of tree roots and busted concrete running through the site. The picnic area and fire rings were on the “wrong” side of the camper making it impossible to use out outdoor kitchen. Overall the state park is nice. The people are friendly and it is a lovely area but we won’t be going back here and we left a day early. I can hardly believe none of the reviews mention that the nearby paper mill can be over powering to the nose! I woke up in the night and thought our camper was having a sewage issue. I added deodorant to the tanks and opened a window. Bad idea. It wasn’t until my husband reminded me of the mill that I caught on to the problem. Funny but just not fun. Be careful with long rigs and take extra care choosing a site.

I estimate 50% of the sites are NOT conducive to comfortable rv stays, but #33 was mostly level (2" low on the driver's side), but easily accessible and a lovely spot in the trees. Large marina, easy access to the Tennessee River. Bathrooms/showers were renovated in 2018. Pretty nice, but the water is VERY HOT. Golf is very close by, and Shiloh Battlefield is less than 30 minutes away. I recommend it for two nights, max, unless you bring a boat. Full sized Kroger nearby in Savannah. Several local restaurants, most closed this week.

We enjoyed the deep woods feel and privacy created by slopes and trees between sites. We were close by a short trail down to the lake that was great for a sunset view, as well as access to a 2.5 mile trail for a nice hiking excursion. Our camper is only 20’ so we had no problem with the length of the site, but the incline required that we back our camper all the way in and lower the tongue jack completely to get level. The shower house is modern and clean, but the nozzles on the showers aren't adjustable and spray water everywhere. One of the showers only provided extremely hot to scalding water, but the temperature was fine in the others. The staff we spoke with were kind and helpful. The campground is a short drive from other lake activities including a swimming beach, a marina and several boat ramps. We just wanted to chill, so it worked out well for us to just string up a hammock, relax in the gravity chair and generally take it easy.

The state park is nice and pretty well maintained, the campground not so much. Most if not all sites will be a very difficult leveling job, many sites are not going to be friendly to a rig of any size, no sewer sites that I saw and the dump station on the way out had a tendency to overflow/backup in fact all of the septic/sewer situation in the campground itself was poor, the bathhouse is new for the most part I would guess it was built in 2017 or so but the toilets were literally overflowing with feces most of the weekend, the showers are individual and they were nice for the most part, water was hot but the nozzle is a very small non adjustable nozzle that made it somewhat difficult to use, but the stalls were clean. The weekend we went the campground was absolutely 100% full with no vacant sites however the sites are wooded and spaced wonderfully no it was a pretty private experience. if your rig is over 25 feet use extreme caution when choosing a site, pay attention to not only the site itself but the loop. One loop specifically is very very tight maneuvering I wish I could remember exactly which loop it was. The cell reception was spotty, phone would show full service but sometimes it would be difficult to use, I suspect this was due to the volume of people because monday and tuesday when the crowds thinned it was better.

Site 2, the former camp host site, worked with some creative leveling for our 30' Airstream. There are a few sites too short/steep for 25'+ trailers. Overall, the campground is kept clean and with a little finagling, it's an acceptable overnighter.

Tennessee parks are beautiful, generally. I've stayed in several. However this one is in need of a serious update. That said, the showers were new and immaculate! The deal killer for most would be the smell for the local paper mill. When the wind changes and you're downwind, you'll think something died outside your door!! HORRIFIC!
