I arrived just after the staff of the Welcome Center went home for the evening. The rest area is large and clean. Since it is Labor Day weekend, I was pleased to find the A/C running all night. I imagine in the winter it is heated. Drink and snack vending machines are available as well as electronic info maps showing the weather in the state and another showing roadway construction project delays. There are picnic tables and a play area for the kids. Pets have their own grassy area. There is a lot of land surrounding the center if you’re inclined to take a walk. There’s also two geocaches hidden here if you do that. As usual, card and trucks are segregated … cars in front and trucks behind the building.

I rolled in after dark, parked between two running trucks to provide white noise, made dinner in the trailer and went to bed. I didn't go into the restrooms so I can't attest to cleanliness. I did empty our trash. Everything was acceptable for a rest area.
This rest area is on the southbound lanes. I was going northbound so I had to double back to get into the area and then do the same to get northbound in the morning. Not a big deal. I could have continued onto Iowa that also has overnight parking allowed in rest areas but I was beat.
