This area is only open to camping during the fall hunting seasons. It gets pretty busy, but free and secluded from main roads.

Pretty bummed. Drove 30 min out of our way with the rig only to find “no camping” signs everywhere and the gate to the road closed. Gotta love the government prohibiting us from using places our tax dollars support.

1) Some may not enjoy the road up the mountain, as it is a narrow and windy (but very well-traveled) road. We are a 34 foot 5th wheel and were with friends in a 42 ft 5th wheel. Neither of us had issues, but it wasn't exactly a fun drive (although very pretty!).
2) There are not a ton of spots for big rigs. We found a decently sized spot with some nice views of the mountains. But there weren't many options.
3) There are a lot of homeless in this area. Overall, this doesn't bother us, but the USFS came by to warn us of squatters, and there was also an issue with an abandoned trailer being used for squatters while we were here. So law enforcement was there, etc.
4) Flies were HORRIBLE (this was September). It is very dusty (likely year round).
5) Very creepy experience with someone desperately screaming "Help" loudly nearby. We called the cops and we scouted on foot; no one found anything. It was eerie.
6) There was a statewide fire ban and people were still having fires. This is just irresponsible and somewhat angering, as bold signs at the entrance made this very clear.
Really wanted to LOVE this spot, as it has potential. But we had several odd experiences here. We'd stay here again in a pinch, but would look elsewhere first.

We stayed for 10 nights in late September. There are no hookups and the closest dump and water is 25 minutes down the mountain into Ogden. Vault toilet that needs some attention before I would brave it long enough to sit down, This area is used mainly for horse trailers coming to ride for the day. When you first come in, there is a somewhat flat dirt lot that we stayed in. Past that, there is an area with a few more places to park, but it is all dirt and this second area is where people tie off their horses, leaving piles of fun that I had to keep telling our kids to steer clear of. The entire place is dusty, so dont expect to keep the rig clean here. Overall, the views are really nice, the road is paved right up until the parking areas, and it was relatively quiet.
Cell coverage was good on ATT and Verizon at about 20 down and 10 up average for both. Had no issues working and streaming without a booster.
Be aware that the road up from Ogden is VERY windy and narrow. With our 40” rig, we were in the oncoming lane around most turns and the opposing traffic comes down way too fast for that road.

We met the ranger and he was very generous with information. Seems like this area (and based on old reviews) has been pretty sketchy but they have patrolled enough to help that. I would be careful staying here on weekends but week days it has been pretty laid back. Limit is back up to 10 days. Great market just in town. Main things to look out for are horse poop and lots of yellow jackets if you hang during the day. Reports of some things being taken from camp sites when left unattended, but the ranger was open about that. Would absolutely stay here again. Pack in/pack out, no trash cans and one bathroom so bring your own TP

You can camp either in the initial corral on the right or on either side of the road once you pass the dirt hill on the way in. The road is pretty good, no issues for larger rigs, just keep an eye out for big rocks. We chose to camp near the front, it was a bit quieter than the spot we spent the first night in near the middle along the fence.
There is access to a trail in the back, follow the trail on the right for river access. People do tend to shoot guns quite a bit here near the trail entrance so if the noise is an issue try to find a spot closer to the front of the lot.
There’s a very active police presence between the local sheriff rolling through as well as park rangers multiple times a day usually.
One thing to note is there is a 5 night limit during summer months and 10 nights during winter months so don’t expect to get 14 here. The ranger seems to stay on top of this rule as well, around morning of day 4 he was kindly asking me which camp I was in and what my plans were.
There’s a market a couple of miles away that has a surprisingly good selection of groceries so no need to drive into Ogden.
