Overall Rating

The $24 price includes full sewer hookup. There are several sites without sewer hookup that are a few dollars cheaper. There are porta-potties available, but otherwise no public facilities. Some hunters were surprised to see that there were no showers as there were in the previous year. The campground was mostly empty with a few tent campers setting up camp for a day or two. The 50 amp sites are all close together and the section was pretty full when we arrived, but cleared out after the first weekend.. We were very happy with site #19, which only has 30 amp. It had enough partial shade that we were able to keep the RV temp below 80 on the hottest 100 degree day with just one AC. Water spigots are shared (at least for our site) it would be normal to share with site #18 (which is also a good option). We needed every bit of 75ft hose to reach. Internet was good on both Verizon and AT&T. Was able to stream netflix, attend zoom meetings without much problem, though a momentary glitch or two in zoom. Download speed was ~15 Mbs down, but upload sometimes fell below 0.5.T-Mobile phone was unusable on its own. Only a Dollar General in town. Metropolis is about 15 miles away with a grocery store and several other businesses. And another 10 minutes across the river Paducah has every big box store and chain restaurant that you'll find anywhere. The really special thing about this campground is the Tunnel State Trail that runs right by it. It provided a great place for morning/evening walks of our dog. And it leads to other trails through Cypress forests. The boardwalk at Section Eight about 2 miles from the campground is so beautiful and a fun place to view birds like great egrets and blue heron.
