We booked online for a beach site that had no hookups but due to a work issue we needed power. The ranger onsite was so helpful in helping us find an available site with power. He gave us 4 sites to choose from. We got a site up on the top tier of the hill and it had the most beautiful views. There is a dump station on site and fresh water fill for RV’s. They have pay showers. There is currently construction happening on 2 new shower facilities. The 14 mile road in has treacherous turns and we saw another RV that had their awning torn off by a low hanging branch; just go slow. The store and restaurant onsite are awesome! The Jalama Burger is so good. The sites vary and the configuration is like a stadium of sorts. Some of the ground level sites were flooded when we arrived. We saw migrating whales while were there and the sunsets were amazing.

Great place to get together with friends and family.

Blindly followed our GPS when all of a sudden the road became a mountainous winding treacherous nightmare, pulling our travel trailer.
Thought to myself, self I said, it's probably just over this hill. But no, it was miles of the same.
Luckily there was nowhere to turn around because at the end of the road was an absolute gem of a County Park and campground.
Located on an isolated little cove of pristine beach!
Our campsite had no hookups but the campground has a dump station and a freshwater fill location.
We watched a beautiful sunset. In the morning took a long walk down the beach and watched the surfers.
Don't miss this one. Enjoy!

We are parked in the upper tier #110 and have a lovely panoramic view of the ocean below. Surfers are out this morning. Whale watching and parasailors yesterday.
No cell service but strong wifi signal provided by the park. The drive in is a bit steep and windy in places but just took our time.

Only the sites right along the beach were $50, the rest were $30. It was nice staying there in December because there weren’t many other campers, but in the busy season I think it would be too crowded. The sites are all back to back and there’s no privacy. They had coin operated showers (3 mins for $1, quarters only).

Be aware, the last ten or so miles to the park are incredibly rough, very narrow and winding. Signage is adequate. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic.
Our site, 56, was a nose in that was just long and wide enough for our Coach and Towed. Services at our site did not exist. We had a table and a fire pit and a view to die for. Distancing is very reasonable for an ocean front site. Our site had a vegetation barrier on the left side only. Overall the park was pretty and well manicured.
There is no cell service and the park supplied internet hot spot was impossible to connect to. We tried very late at night and very early in the morning thinking that there was perhaps too many trying to log on at other times. We did not find any OTA TV. Satellite should not be a problem though as most of the park is wide open. We did not use the washrooms or pay showers but we checked and found them clean.
The beach area is long and wide and even deeper during low tide. The waves crashing is loud but what amazing music to fall asleep to.
There is a camp store on site that also serves fast food. The closest civilization is about a half an hour away in Lompoc. We found this park to be a well run municipal campground. We paid $53.00 per night which we normally would find unacceptable for a no services site, but, in this case, we feel we received good value. We will be back if in the area again. Be advised, this is a very popular park year round. It was full every night that we were here.

We visited in late February 2021. The sun was shining but the wind was BLOWING. That's seems to be the achilles heal of this location—when the wind is blowing it can be miserable. Friday and Saturday were sustained 20mph+ winds which made enjoying the beach difficult. But not impossible. Sunday was calm and we could really see how amazing this spot can be. The site is above average for state campgrounds. Some hookup sites available though we didn't get one. Which leads us to the other problem with Jalama which is its popularity—you have to book months in advance and it's always full. But, if you get a spot definitely come. The stretch of hwy 1 and the country road that leads you the rest of the way is one of the most spectacular drives in the state of CA.

Only up side was the great burgers made the drive worthwhile. You better like wind in this spot but pretty spot along the ocean.
