Beautiful area of the white mountain national forest. I tried to stay here thinking I’d have Verizon cell service and unfortunately there’s none.
Miche would stay here again

We pulled into Hastings USNF CG later in the afternoon without reservations 7/16/2020. Many reserved/unoccupied with many walk up sites available. We chose #26 with plenty of room and good solar. 3 days for $30 w senior pas. Evens Brook flowing behind a low berm at the back of the site. It was a convenient place to sit and soak you feet in the hot daytime temperatures. No Verizon coverage and I didn't feel the urge to set up the booster. Many hiking trails and sights are nearby to see on short drives. We chose to drive up to the Mt. Washington summit via the Auto Road (toll) one clear afternoon. Clear days are a rarity up there.
Hastings is the first of 4 campgrounds in the boarder area that spans the USNF boarder between ME/NH. A drive down the dirt Wild River Rd for about 7 miles ends at Wild USNF CG just over the NH boarder, a great tenting campground. The road roughly follows the Wild River that flows over glacial rock/til with many pull offs so one can enjoy the river from the gravel bars. Daytime was hot when we were there and many family groups were enjoying the river during the time of SARS CoV2 pandemic. If one drives Rt 113 there are 2 other USNF CGs, again just over the ME boarder: Basin and Cold River. Not too far away is Emerald Pool nature preserve, yet another nice place to visit.

Me and my boyfriend camped at Hasting's this past week. We had a very fun and relaxing week. The Hosts we're very friendly and we appreciated their helpfulness when we first arrived. Over all the campground was clean and well maintained. However, the bathrooms on a couple of occasions through out the week has several flies and fruit flies. About mid-week in the evening the Hosts got in a heated verbal argument with each other using profanity, the argument was short but loud enough for the other campers to hear. I do understand couples get into disagreements, but it was very unprofessional. I believe the hosts did a very good job and they knew about the surrounding area and where to go for sight seeing and fun things to do!
