Perfect overnight spot, only ones there and couldn't have felt safer. Use the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Center entrance to avoid questionable road. Sign asks that you check-in with Center, it was closed when we arrived, but I'm sure you can leave a message or an email.

Arrive mid afternoon on a Monday, Checking at Confuluence center was. Loved so sent an email. It's no frills. Just open grassy area with a few fire pits. 22 miles to the closest grocery, but only 5 to Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site. The Fort and Cemetary are near. Pulled In after closing around 6:00. Took the last of 3 spots, but probably could have parked anywhere in the free area near the cemetery if all 3 spots With fire pits and picnic tables were taken. It was quiet and pretty and the perfect place to stay before heading to TRNP.

There is a very good restaurant in Williston well worth the drive called Basil restaurant
which is a sushi bar and Asian bistro.

This was a bit confusing to find. There is a paid campground to the left of the confluence center. The envelopes are there. We filled one out & stayed over in the free area by the cemetery where there are at least 3 sites to stay. Very nice & quiet. A very cool historical place to stay. Absolutely would stay here again.

What I mainly wanted to add is to be very careful about the small cactus plants scattered around the campground hiding in the grass. If you're not looking for them you won't notice them and can easily step on them. Not a huge problem but just be on the lookout.

We checked out the camping area while we were there to visit Ft. Buford. Nice wooded area. There were bathrooms nearby associated with the state historical park. Both Ft. Buford and the bathrooms were closed when we were there. Looks like everything shuts down on Labor Day weekend. We road our bikes between Ft. Buford and the Confluence of the Yellowstone and Missouri site and around the campground. Would definitely stay here if in the area in the future.

We absolutely loved this place. It's on the property of Fort Buford State Historic Site, maybe 0.25 miles away. We absolutely loved this place. It's on the property of Fort Buford State Historic Site, maybe 0.25 miles away. There are plenty of trees but we found a spot with enough sun to adequately get the solar we needed while still in among the trees. It's between the historical site buildings and the cemetery. There is plenty of room for multiple rigs but only about 3 spots designated with fire pits, trash and picnic tables. The stay limit is 4 nights without permission from management to stay longer. Verizon signal was one-two bars. The historic site is well worth a visit, as is the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center. There is some road noise.
