Depends on what you bring for a setup. I have a 30' fifth wheel and the dispersed camping was pretty limited for me. If you're overlanding you will find something decent. Tuttle creek is a good alternative.

We went prior to Thanksgiving and it was busy. This was during the time they had already started closing down a lot of areas to campers. We haven't been there since, so I imagine it will be just as busy for lack of areas that are still open. Biggest advice: Get there early to find a spot. Getting there late afternoon or evening makes it very difficult. Also, we had a scout vehicle that made a big difference.

With the majority of the original campsites removed by the local BLM the available campsites are filled almost constantly other than during the heat of the summer and sometimes even then, There is little chance of scoring a site during any holiday period. This was an amazing camping area. Now I wouldn't waste my time trying.

Any big weekend will be impacted. Get there two days early if you want a better choice of space.
