It was pretty crowded, but luckily we found a more private spot and it was perfect for what we needed... free and close to Arches and Moab! A little noisy at times with the UTVs/ATVs/dirt bikes going by, but there are trails in that area so it’s to be expected, and luckily it was quiet at night!

This is a fantastic free spot right outside of Moab... but it’s not a secret anymore! We have a 27’ airstream and had no problem finding a spot midweek. Gets very busy on weekend, though, and can be loud depending who you are camped next to. We work from the camper and we were able to use our hotspot just fine. With the weboost we got 40mb/s download. We were camped in one of the first areas and the further back you go the worse the service got. NOTE: please respect this place as we saw numerous people driving their vehicles through the desert and destroying plants and trees. This camping will likely turn into more heavily managed/paid camping because people are wrecking the place.

Some things to note should you choose to stay here:
The type of people that camp here do not care about campground etiquette.
You will hear open frame generators around the clock.
People have zero sense of personal space. They will come camp right up in your business.
Kids will be constantly screaming.
Dogs will not be leashed.
Dust will be flying.
ATV's will go up and down the road all day long.
If you like nature, peace and quiet, and isolation, this spot is not for you.
Should you decide to camp in Moab, the Maverick does have free dump and potable water and the best gas prices in town. The grocery and dollar stores are nice. Arches is slammed.

So we showed up on Tuesday and drove all the way down to the end of the road. It was super busy, not a lot of spots available. We were going to leave but a couple stopped us and told us there was a spot next to their RV. (I think that because we had a Grand Design like them, they were ok with us being next to them:)) The site had a bit of a smell but ended up dissipating. Even though it was packed, everybody is quiet and mindful. I took a star off because people were still coming in at midnight trying to find a spot and were shining lights to see. People were also coming home from town at 1am but honestly it was super quiet and pretty beautiful. It's about 10 minutes from town but be aware that they are widening the road and there is construction therefore lots of traffic.
At the end of the dirt road if you turn left you can get into Arches and see areas that is not accessible any other way (except by ATV or dirt bikes).

Stayed at Willow Springs for 7 days in late September 2020. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and although it was pretty busy we got a prime spot. Saturday night and Sunday were pretty busy. Lots of people come in after dark trying to find spots. Pretty annoying watching them drive around shining lights. Do your research and know the layout and where spots are. Access to the very end section is very rough but I did see a few trailers and a big 5th wheel back there. The main road is well maintained but has some washboard. You will have to drive over some bumps to get to almost all spots.
Here’s what not to do.
1 bring an open frame construction generator
2 Leave on outside lights
3 try to set up in half of someone’s spot without asking.
This place id prefect if you are bringing a Jeep or ATV since there are trails in willow springs and Seven Mile Rim is right across the street.
Free dump and water at Mavericks at south end of town (avoid on Sunday it’s a mad house).
Overall we will come back.

Some “people” ran the generator at 1 am and there are people driving side by sides at night but it does quite down hence the 3 stars for noise. Wasn’t near the highway so don’t know how good or bad that was noise wise.

Extremely dusty from dirt road, but most area campgrounds are the same - and this one is FREE. Was busy when we were there - many RVs coming and going - but room for everyone and all quiet at night
We had only 1-2 bars for both ATT and Verizon (ugh!) which is the main reason we didn’t stay longer. Would def stay again.

The first part of the road is decent, but a little washboardy. Once you get to the turn before the pit toilet the road turns very bumpy and rutty. I was still able to get my 27’ trailer past, but it was slow going. It was hot here in early June with almost no shade. Verizon service was spotty, but I was able to get enough of a signal to work. The sherrif deputy came by once, it was nice to see they patrol the area.
