This is a nice park with sites very widely spaced and wonderful views of the mountains. It's convenient to Provo and I-15. It would be a great park if the facilities and sites were cleaned. We had a lovely spot with two shade trees and wonderful views of the mountains.
The Provo airport is very near and there is noise from the GA activities. A couple of times a day there is also a commercial airline landing or taking off. Because it is park of the lake, our early September stay included a lot of bugs, but that is to be expected.
The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the showers. In the four night we were there, there was no evidence of any cleaning. Further, our site had cigarette butts, old lolly pops and various other debris scattered around.
On a positive not, the site had a nice covered concrete pad with a picnic table, a fire pit and a barbecue. Our it is a wide open space with maybe 32 sites and no near neighbors. Add the $30 a night for 30 Amps and water, it's not could have been a real bargain if not for the shabby maintenance.

Let me first say this is a nice campground. Paved pads, pavilions at each site, water and electric. Sites are well spaces but the campground is wide open so you make your own privacy. Bathroom facilities were clean, but I did not use the shower. There’s a marina and boat launch that are in good condition and get a fair amount of use, and a boat rental facility.
The rest of the experience here was disappointing. Utah Lake is a freshwater lake hemmed in by mountains, agriculture and human development. Everything runs off into the lake. By August the heat has turned the lake into a cesspool, especially the protected marina area where the beach is. The algae was so bad you couldn’t not see an inch into the water. I wouldn’t let my dog swim it. It stinks like carp, which are an invasive species wrecking havoc on the lake ecology as well. I am disappointed that the staff even told us we could use the beach—I can’t imagine it’s safe to swim in that water.
All the wetlands are choked with phragmites (which it does seem is being treated) so there’s virtually nothing to see this time of year because the stuff grows seven feet tall. The first morning we were here we woke to the stench of sulfur from I don’t know where. Also the park is at the end of the runway for the Provo airport so there is a constant stream of small planes and helicopters with a few larger planes flying low overhead pretty much from sun up to sun down.
There’s a “natural area” with a trail across the Provo River that is apparently not maintained anymore. There’s tables and benches and a boardwalk but it was badly overgrown. A disk golf course winds through it but is clearly no longer used. The Skipper Bay Trail passes directly behind the campground but there’s no direct access to it—you’ve got to walk over half a mile around the chain link fence to access any part of it.
In addition to all of that there was garbage all over. In spite of regular staff and a campground host there were bottles and other trash all over the place. The dumpster by the boat launch must be filled with fish guts because it smelled so bad I couldn’t stand to be with 50 feet of it.
In all this is a typical urban campground—a nice facility overall that gets used by people who don’t respect it. There were empty sites mid week but I suspect it fills up on the weekend. It’s close to town, but other than the planes it’s quiet, and there are a lot of birds here. I hope they keep up with restoration efforts and figure out how to control the algae as it makes the beach unusable, and clean the place up. I would stay again for a night or two at most as it’s in a convenient location with hookups, which you need in Utah in August when the temps can hit 100 degrees.

Overall I really liked Utah Lake State Park campground. It is not a huge campground and had just what we needed to test out our new travel trailer. We were there the weekend of 7/26 - 7/28. Getting to the spot was a narrow circle, but it was manageable. All of the sites have a fire ring and covered picnic table which was a nice surprise. The sunsets were spectacular! We didnt take advantage of the nearby beach besides just strolling by with the dogs, but it looked like there were places to rent boats, paddle boards and other water things. It was nice for us because it's location is not super far away from a Home Depot if we needed something (but it's not on top of it either). It is however right next to a small airport, if airplane noise isn't your thing. I think the whole weekend I personally noticed three - five fly over.

Stayed from 7/24/19 to 7/29/19. I saw a lot of negative reviews for this place, especially on google, but I'm not sure what all the hate is about. I really enjoyed it here. Yes, it's buggy, but I feel like you should just expect that when you're camping on a lake. I used lots of bug spray and a citronella candle and was fine sitting outside in the evenings.
One big negative that I do have for this place is that they lock the gate at 10pm and don't give you any options to get back in. I've stayed in another Utah state park with this policy and they let me put a deposit down to get a key so that I could get back in. That wasn't an option here though. We wanted to go to a concert in SLC but ended up skipping it because we wouldn't be back by 10 and they wouldn't give us a way to get back in.
My site was a pull-through and it was a bit awkward getting the rig between the hookups and poles on the left side of the site and the pavilion on the right side, but it wasn't a big deal. The sites are big enough that you have a lot of options for how you want to place your rig relative to the pavilion. I really loved having the pavilion at the site. It had a massive picnic table under it and was a great spot to hang out.
My site had water and electric (30 amp max) but no sewer. There is a dump station right on the way in/out that has a rinse water hookup. I never used the showers at this park so I can't comment on those, but I used the restrooms a couple times and they seemed pretty nice and clean. I did notice that the showers were at the entrance next to the dump station and I didn't see any showers actually inside the park. So if you wanted to use them it would be a little bit of a walk over there.
The lake is in walking distance from the campground and there is a ton of stuff you can do there. My dog and I had a blast hanging out at the beach and walking around on the pier at sunset. There is also a rental place on the lake that rents out boats, kayaks, paddleboards, ATV's, etc. We rented a boat one afternoon and the people there were very nice and helpful and the rates seemed reasonable to me.
The location of this park is great for getting to Provo. We did a couple hikes in the area and really enjoyed it. I had to go into Salt Lake City quite a bit and it was about a 45 minute drive each way to get there.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it.

However, I was disappointed that there were no views from the campsite. Grass was too high and a huge pile of mulch blocked what little of the lake view that we had. The little flying bugs were horrible. Could not walk outside without being inundated. Couldn’t leave door open or use the picnic table which was right outside our door. Walking to the car I didn’t want to breathe because I was afraid I’d suck one up. Showers worked well. Just a little old and the shower heads looked yucky.

Camp host was very friendly and accommodating. A little far from SLC, but sites are well maintained. Picnic tables under awnings. Firepit. Paved spaces. Backin or pull through. Water and electric with dump on site. Dumpsters and bathrooms on site. Great scenery. Right by the lake with snow capped mountains all around

Some sites are pull-through and others are back-in. If you have a longer rig (30'+), you might want to grab a back-in site. The pull-through sites are long enough, but you might struggle to position yourself with room for slide outs. Each site has a covered picnic table, fire pit, and grill.
You can book online in advance, but within 2 days of arrival, it's first-come, first-serve. If you want to stay more than 1 day, talk to the camp host or office to make sure the site you picked is not booked online in the following days (we ended up having to move sites after 1 night since we didn't do this before hooking up).
Great cell coverage with Verizon and AT&T. We have been getting 20-30 mbps down consistently.
The biggest downside is the noise from planes due to the nearby airport.

Convenient location for visiting Provo. If that's your goal it's a five star. With the extraordinary camping in the surrounding mountains there is not any reason to camp here except for location or in our case time of year with mountains still in snow cover.
