Easy walking or shuttle access to trails including the South Rim; restaurants, groceries, and coffee shop at the Yavapai Lodge (lots of options, including gluten free); and nature paths (lots of wild elk!) within the park itself. No wifi and bathhouses are coin operated and very cramped, but still fine for a weeklong stay. If you have dogs, keep an eye out for foxtail, which was all over almost every site when we visited in May 2024.

I enjoyed this park and site. It has full hookups on a nice concrete level pad. It is ridiculously quiet all the time
I’d stay here again for sure! Quick access to Village Market and all the amenities in that area. You can walk from the camp site to the market and taverns.

My review is from the following perspective. My wife and I travel 6-7 months a year in a 45-foot Class A Motorhome towing a trailer for our car (72-foot total length rig). We’ve visited over 400 campgrounds, RV Parks in the last 10 years. Dry camping to resorts, we have done them all. Generally, I would say we are NOT campers. We are travelers looking for a site to base our adventures from in our rolling home (for maybe a 60-mile radius), so we are not big on RESORTS.
People who rate this “park” 3,4,5 are not rating the park but rating the Grand Canyon! The RV park it’s self is a Solid 2 iffy 3 really! I’ll start off with the “Classic Sites”. At some point in the last century the streets and site pads were paved with Asphalt. That was long ago and nothing appears to have been done to them since. The pads in this area of the campground are mostly level but the roads and site pads are graveled and potholed unlike the premium sites. Power boxes may have meters on them indicating long term users (employees?) use a portion of this section. Trees are mostly mature but not trimmed in any way and if you have a RV over 10 to 11 feet tall scraping the top and sides of you RV is likely but not in every case. All sites appear to have 50amp service, water and sewer. There is no curb appeal, you are very close to your neighbor, and sites are not maintained in any way for appearance. You may have a picnic table but not guaranteed. No fire ring or grill, no patio, many sites have extra vehicles, dolly’s, trailers parked in the dirt next to the pad.
The Premium Sites (also termed “full hookup” on their map). Roads and pads have been paved in the last few years so generally they are pothole free. Sites tend to be slightly out of level (downhill) and tilt to one side or the other. Electrical boxes are in decent shape, water and sewer connections are mostly worn out and repaired multiple times (note that water pressure here is low and slow). It appears all sites have a picnic table and grill for charcoal use only per the rules. There are mature trees that have not been pruned or cared for in anyway. It is likely that you will find some with the top or sides of your RV. Dead wood on trees is also present and nothing is being done to take care of those issues. Campground has no curb appeal and is just a place to park side by side with full hookups with gravel/ dirt spilling onto the pads in almost every case. No maintenance is being done here except to keep power, water sewer working (example of this is the charcoal grills are full of brickette ashes). Again, many sites have cars, trailers, other vehicles parked in the dirt/gravel of the site next to the RV as there is no overflow or extra vehicle parking. My iPhone 13 on Verizon was getting 2-3 bars all the time but was still very slow. Satellite reception for most users will be good but an occasional tree might block you in certain sites. If you are like me and expect a nicer, more upscale accommodation when you pay $80, $90, $100 or more per night you will be very disappointed here. The only real benefit to this campground/ area is that you are in the park and don’t have to drive in each day which involves a wait time at the entrance of 10 to 45 minutes depending on entrance time. Grand Canyon Shuttle (that is almost a requirement to use) comes to the park about every 15 minutes is easy to use (if it is not full) but it will take you a minimum of 30 minutes to reach any destination using this method of transportation. If you have an electric bike, use it instead. Campground is at 7,000+ feet. Beware of altitude sickness which can affect anyone not just the elderly.

Easy to pull up and check in. Pull through spot had ample space to maneuver into. Most sites seem to have picnic tables which was great to use when it wasn’t raining. Weather was fine but bring a jacket just in case as the weather around the Grand Canyon can be sporadic. Showers and laundry are a bit far (15 minute walk if you dare) where the 5 minute (token/quarter-powered) shower was humbling. Only issue with laundry is I couldn’t figure out how to insert the complimentary token the front desk gave so I had to use quarters. Otherwise there’s a decent amount of bathrooms scattered around the RV site and it’s only a 15 minute walk to the edge of the canyon where there’s buses that can ferry you back after walking a fair bit. Beware of pesky ravens and elk who like to roam around and investigate the grounds (they are used to human presence and do not care).

The campground is in the Grand Canyon National Park but is operated by a concessionaire. They need to spend some money on the bathhouses. They are old and need work. There are no showers on the campground. You have to go to Mather to take a shower. There is a charge of $2.50 for a 5-minute shower. There were 5 showers available in the ladies area and 3 were out of order.

Pros:
• Full hookups inside the park
• Quiet
• Solid cell service (Verizon)
• Close to everything
• All sites are pull through
Cons:
• Sites are pretty close together
• Not much to look at
• Not enough room to park your vehicle, so you just have to park on the gravel where your picnic table is

It is worth the money to camp with your rv in the park.
It is walking distance to the food market, and a park shuttle bus stops at the front.
Every evening the mule deer visit the campground to eat the trees and are not afraid of people.
Pro Tips:
1) Check in at the campground booth before it closes, after-hours check-in at the lodge is a mile away and is a big hassle with an rv.
2) Pull the rv forward way past the check in booth past the school bus stop - the reason is that the rv's at the booth will block the park shuttle bus.
3) Enter the park gate before 10 am - it backs up quickly after that.
4) If you park in parking lot A, B, C, or D get there before 10 am. The lots are full from 10 am to 3 pm.
5) The south rim is at 7000 feet, your water hose might freeze. Possibly use the fresh water tank with your water pump.
6) All food is expensive at the national park restaurants, pubs, and markets. Stock up before you arrive. The beer prices are almost reasonable at the bars.
7) Get your propane refilled at "Grand Canyon Camper Village" in Tusayan, just outside the park. There is enough room for an rv to park next to the fill-up station.

The pad was asphalt with a grill, picnic table and full hook ups. For $74.25 a night I thought there should be better facilities. First, there is no shower in Trailer Village. I think it is because TV is a full hook up campground so I get that. From our site there was a heated restroom. It was NEVER cleaned the entire time we were camped in the park. To me that is unacceptable. When you arrive you are given tokens for the shower area at Camper Services. One token for 5 minutes of shower time. We used it once but only because we had a frozen dump valve so we were careful not to fill our tanks. The shower area also has a large laundry area and clean and has an attendant on duty who was very helpful.
We choose to stay here because the shuttle service picks you up at the entry gate and takes you every where in the park. For the whole 4 days we were at the Grand Canyon we never waited more the 15 minutes to catch the shuttle. The shuttle system is run very well. Another great thing about Trailer Village is that you can either drive or take the shuttle to the Market Area. The General Store was amazing. All kinds of quality camping gear and rentals if a person didn’t bring their own equipment hike and camp in the back country, We also felt the food prices were very fair unlike the store we stopped at outside of the park. It was a very nice grocery store with fresh meats and veggies. That place outside the park was a rip off - $3.79 for a gallon of distilled water! Speaking of water - you can fill gallon jugs inside the camp store in the village for free!
We would stay here again just because it is inside the park and the shuttle will take you anywhere you need to go to see the canyon. This was the first week of April with snow and the park was really crowed. We cannot imagine what it would be like for crowds in warmer weather?

There were no elk in this section. It looks like they’re placing long term units here, possibly for workers quarters?
There were piles of snow and gravel and broken branches all over.
Definitely not worth the money. We were very disappointed in the lack of cleanliness, lack of toilet facilities and overall feel.
The other section may have been nicer though everyone was close together.
When you check in, make sure to ask for the paved section with toilet facilities!
