Does Sue-meg have any electrical, water, waste hookups for RV/trailers? Or is it all dry camping?

We stayed here in early May. Overall, the campground was not remarkable except for the view and hike (way down) to the beach. The sites were small and shady. The undergrowth encroached our sit on both sides. It wasn't a bad campground, but not as pristinely kept as those in Oregon. The main reason we stayed here was for access to ... more
We stayed here in early May. Overall, the campground was not remarkable except for the view and hike (way down) to the beach. The sites were small and shady. The undergrowth encroached our sit on both sides. It wasn't a bad campground, but not as pristinely kept as those in Oregon. The main reason we stayed here was for access to Eureka which sadly has been inundated by the homeless. I think my rating may be a little low and was perhaps unfairly negatively impacted by my discomfort with the overgrowth and disappointment with Eureka.

We stayed here in early May. Overall, the campground was not remarkable except for the view and hike (way down) to the beach. The sites were small and shady. The undergrowth encroached our sit on both sides. It wasn't a bad campground, but not as pristinely kept as those in Oregon. The main reason we stayed here was for access to Eureka which sadly has been inundated by the homeless. Hike to the beach was steep but beautiful. We snuck in past the “campground full” signs and found several open and camped next to a nice family in a cabin rental. Lots of beautiful hikes and meadows in the campground areas.

“Amazing Forest Camping”

This campground is breathtaking. Deep forest right on the ocean. Huge ferns and many beautiful sites to choose from. Very quiet, the giant trees absorbed noise so well you could hardly hear a car drive by your site. The sites can have limited parking, but are huge back in to the forest. This campground is breathtaking. Deep forest right on the ocean. Huge ferns and many beautiful sites to choose from. Very quiet, the giant trees absorbed noise so well you could hardly hear a car drive by your site. The sites can have limited parking, but are huge back in to the forest. Can be chilly with all the shade and mists.
The big downside to this park is the overly strict dog rules. You can only walk your dogs on the roads. All the beautiful trails were off limits. We unhooked our tow vehicle and took the dogs to Big Lagoon each day to swim.

Overall Rating
If you don’t mind driving 30 minutes to the trails in the national and state parks this is one of my favorite campgrounds to go to in the area. You can camp on the cliffs of the beach or or the forest with lots of privacy all in one huge campground! I highly recommend this one

Agate Loop, site 117, 2 nights... Some sites have privacy hedges and others have zero privacy. Some in the sun ( which you want ) and some shade only ( burr cold! ). Some sites have privacy hedges and others have zero privacy. Some in the sun ( which you want ) and some shade only ( burr cold! ). On this forested, windy coastline you will want all the warmth you can get.
There are lots of bike riding pathways and even the roads in this state park are very nice because there's not much traffic and everyone is driving slow. Also many hiking trails to beautiful windswept look out points. Remember no dogs on any trails!
My one beef here is the ancient bathrooms/showers. Camp host told us they were to be replaced years, ( maybe even decades ! ) ago. My first try at showering ( Agate loop bathouuse ) my quarters got jammed and it wouldn't work at all. And the next stall needed no coins and was free. And still another stall used tokens which I didn't bother with. So they work if your lucky and can figure them out.

Our site was very private, with dense understory all around. Many of the sites near us in this loop (Agate) were similar. There are nice trails but unfortunately we could not use them because we have dogs. We did visit the Sue-Meg village (dogs stayed in the camper). There are some beaches near Trinidad that allow dogs, however. The weather in August was cloudy and foggy but a nice change from 90+ further inland, and we enjoyed a campfire each night. The bathroom was old but clean. The showers were old, low pressure, and hit and miss. One family member put in her quarters but never got hot water, just barely warm. Another (men's side) got only cold water but it was free. When I went to shower it was already running, was fairly hot, and never stopped running until I turned it off....so a free hot shower! There is no dump station anymore. This was a 3-family gathering, and I would only return here for similar, otherwise would stay where dogs are allowed on the trails. I had no cell service with US Cellular but others had service with Verizon.

Stayed here for 2 nights. My goodness our site was private! (#120). All tucked away with lots of lush trees and dense foliage surrounding all around. Stayed here for 2 nights. My goodness our site was private! (#120). All tucked away with lots of lush trees and dense foliage surrounding all around. There was a nice cleared out space in the back with a couple of rocks, wonderful soft pine underneath feet, picnic table and fire pit. Side to side levelling was good, but back to front would require blocks. Our 30’ rv fit no problem with little jeep tucked in front. The whole site was well maintained, and I really loved that it is a joint venture with the Yurok. The fresh water spigots ran slow but clear. The bathrooms were nice and the showers were great! In fact, I put in 2 quarters, then a 3rd just to be sure, but the water didn’t stop running. Maybe the timer was broken (I did turn it off obviously). Because the sign was worn away I am not sure how long it was supposed to run for, but anyway it was hot and very very nice. For various reasons (not least of which apparently very damp cold sets off my asthma and allergies) we did not explore much, but we did go down to agate beach, and checked out the Yurok village. I wish the native plant garden hadn’t been so overgrown, but it relies on volunteers, so not their fault! All in all a really pleasant experience.
In terms of cel-service, our t-mobile and Verizon got a couple of bars intermittently. We didn’t bother to put up the starlink, as we were deep in the woods.

Hike down to beach was fine w/ decent path, except at beach needed to cross driftwood/ rock “bridge” that wasn’t stable.
Beach gorgeous, long, could hike for miles. Nice tide pools on left side of beach.
Dump station out of service. Looks like it’s been years since functional.
Would stay here again.

Was a must stop to OR from Sonoma. Highly recommended by people we met in Sedona. Arrived around 4 pm, the strong Pacific coast with it's moist forest instantly transformed our senses and mood.
