We enjoyed our time at camp creek state park. The campground was clean and the staff was very friendly. We only stayed over the weekend but the park was very quiet. The hiking trails are well kept and well marked.

I agree with the other reviewers, but want to add that we lucked into a free musical performance at the amphitheater, so check their calendar of events. They claim to have WiFi, but it didn’t work and they don’t seem interested in fixing it, despite helpful staff. Minimal att service. Easy hiking to two small falls in the park. See San... more

They claim to have WiFi, but it didn’t work and they don’t seem interested in fixing it, despite helpful staff. Minimal att service. Easy hiking to two small falls in the park. See Sandstone Falls in nearby area. Loved our stay here.

Overall Rating
We just stayed here overnight and wished we had more time. We would have liked to explore the area more and hiked several of the trails. This is a small campground but located in a beautiful valley. The sites are just far enough apart, level and good hookups. The office staff was very helpful in telling us about the area.

We were at this campground for 2 nights. It is a wonderful and quiet place. The thing we loved most was seeing the stars at night! We’ve already picked sites we’d like to have for our next visit.
Bathhouse was clean and the shower area had a bench, and hooks and a towel bar. Very nice! Well maintained.

I’m so glad we found this small but very nice campground because we will be back to visit The New River Gorge. Next time we’ll make our reservations earlier to be sure to get a creek side site. I’m so glad we found this small but very nice campground because we will be back to visit The New River Gorge. Next time we’ll make our reservations earlier to be sure to get a creek side site. The sites are paved and mostly flat. I felt like we were in a little bowl with mountain range all around. There are many trails that you can walk, bike, ride or a combination of methods with waterfalls and beautiful woods. The water level was low at the time but still pretty, but I bet it’s amazing when the water is flowing stronger. We had to leave before we could visit the Gorge but I’m looking forward to that in the future.

We stayed at Mash Fork for only one night since we were just passing through the area. Very easy access off of I-77. We stayed in an electric only site that backed up to the creek. Very large sites and easy to back in to. The sound of the creek rushing by out of our back window was so relaxing... just what we needed after a long travel... more
We stayed at Mash Fork for only one night since we were just passing through the area. Very easy access off of I-77. We stayed in an electric only site that backed up to the creek. Very large sites and easy to back in to. The sound of the creek rushing by out of our back window was so relaxing... just what we needed after a long travel day! The campground also has a few full hook up sites, and a couple pull through sites. Bath houses and dump station were in pretty good shape as well.
The park itself is very large, with multiple hiking trails and activities like picnic areas, playgrounds and basketball hoops. These are not that close to the campground though, so you may be better off driving or biking to get to the other areas. Except Mash Fork Falls which is just a short walk from the campground, and we highly recommend checking it out during your stay.
This was a very well taken care of little campground, and we will definitely be back. We did a quick video review about it if you want to see it for yourself!

Camp Creek State Park was easy to find as our RV GPS and Waze brought us right to the Campground (CG). Check-in was quick at the little office right inside this small CG. Camp Creek State Park was easy to find as our RV GPS and Waze brought us right to the Campground (CG). Check-in was quick at the little office right inside this small CG. We then proceed to back-in site 21 with FHUs, which was an easy back in. The site was nice and wide with plenty of space on each side. On the park map it was designated ADA (as was site 22) but we had booked online not seeing any restrictions. We did note after hooking into water that their water pressure was not very good at about 25 psi. The CG has WiFi but admittedly at the office its spotty at best. We got about 3 or 4 OTA channels, with one being a prime channel. We didn’t try satellite but could probably have gotten a signal. We also got 2 bars each on Verizon and AT&T. There are actually two campgrounds in this little state park, Mash Fork where we were and Blue Jay on the other side of the park that is tent camping. Both check in at the Mash Fork office. Site 21 was a nice site that had shade in the afternoon, which would be nice in warmer weather but when we were there first week of April, we had snow and freezing temps. The campsites that ran along the creek were water & 30 AMP and could only take an RV up to 35’. FHU sites were on the opposite side and middle of CG. Probably the best big rig campsite with FHUs with plenty of yard space and some creek view is 26. Both CGs have a large creek running adjacent to the CG. Trout fishing was very popular though I didn’t catch any. They do restock this time of year. There are quite a few trails to hike to include the Mash Fork Falls trail that goes to the Mash Fork Falls then around the mountain to the other side of the park. Its a difficult level hike up the side of the mountain, but once you get up its not too bad if you’re in somewhat decent shape. You don't have to take the difficult trail to see the Mash Fork Falls, there is a flat road next to the Mash Fork Campground that goes right down to the falls. They sell firewood and ice at the Mash Fork office and there’s laundry on the backside of the bath house with 2 washers ($1.00) and 3 dryers ($1.50). Nearest major amenities (Walmart etc.) are at exit 9 off I-77 South in Princeton, WV. As a point of reference, Camp Creek is exit 20. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again.

Lovey small campground in Camp creek state park. Our site was electric only but we were able to fill our water tank very easily before going to our site. Lovey small campground in Camp creek state park. Our site was electric only but we were able to fill our water tank very easily before going to our site. Sites have a lot of room in between with foliage and trees around campground. Our site was on the creek. There are several nice hikes you can take from the campground . easy ones that lead to both of the waterfalls and then a longer hike it takes you up top to Almost Heaven. highly recommend taking the Almost Heaven hike, it’s beautiful. WiFi was on/off unless you were on top of the mountain so alas no Monday Night football. We did drive up the Beckley for the Coal Miner Exhibition which i also highly recommend. Only drawback was that the bathrooms weren’t very clean so if I could have given 4 1/2 stars I would. A great stopover heading north or south due to easy access from I-77.

Nice, roomy, grassy and/or shady sites. Lots of hiking trails. Camp wifi was not working and Verizon data was 1x & slow. Great place to disconnect from the world.

As mentioned by others, this looks like a great day use state park with Marsh Fork as small camping area with electric and water. Didn’t need FHU, so not sure of that option.
