This is an upscale resort, true Disney World style! So much to do at the campground, without ever setting foot in the theme parks. There is archery, horseback riding, pools, restaurants, and more! It's quiet and everything is clean! Verizon coverage is great! The sites are narrow, not allowing for much room for outdoor set up, unless you pay for a premium site. The roads are winding in some of the areas, making it possibly a challenge to back in to the site.

We stayed in the basic, full hookup, loop which was all we needed because we planned to stay in the parks all day. Sites were paved and level, the bus stop at the loop took you all over the campground or to the depot for other parks. We would definitely return and stay much longer to spend more time exploring and enjoying the campground.

We arrived around midnight to the Fort the night before check-in. They let us park the camper in the overflow parking. This place is huge. Driving through the campground and parking can be a little tight. Thankfully we didn’t have any issues backing in to our spot, like we’ve heard so many people talk about. We arrived around midnight to the Fort the night before check-in. They let us park the camper in the overflow parking. This place is huge. Driving through the campground and parking can be a little tight. Thankfully we didn’t have any issues backing in to our spot, like we’ve heard so many people talk about. There is so much to do here, I strongly recommend a golf cart or bike unless you like to walk. They have an internal bus system just for the campground. Sites are nicely spaced, lots of trees so be prepared to clean them slides off. The internet was okay, but don’t rely on it. We used our starling and thankfully there was enough of a gap in the trees at our site to use it. Some sites look like they were fully covered. We loved it though. And would love to go back during Halloween or Christmas.

Arrival - Super easy with online check-in. Simply arrive at Fort Wilderness (FW) and tell the attendant you checked in online and he/she will check on their smart device and pass you on through with maps and simple directions to your loop. If you don't check in online, there is a massive registration area where you pass through the fort gates and take care of everything right there in Disney fashion and efficiency.
Tips - For those in 42' plus rigs, we found the loops below 1000 to be very narrow and tight, book accordingly. As first timers the area and amenities felt a little overwhelming but, once you get into your site you see the area is really constructed for ease and efficiency. So, our tip, don't get too overwhelmed with everything just take it all in. We didn't find the need for a cart rental, we used our feet and the bus system for all our transportation needs. On the other hand, if you really want to explore all FW has to offer, a cart would be more expeditious. We found the cooling towels by Frog Togs to be a saving grace against the heat and humidity. You can either purchase in the park(s) or save a ton of money and purchase before you get here. Last tip, go to the parks early, take a break in the afternoon when it's the hottest in your rig, come back for the park festivities at night when the heat is down and the lights are on. If you are military, BUY YOUR PARK TICKETS ON BASE!
Favorites - Location, location, location. It is so nice to be so close to all Walt Disney World has to offer. The transportation available is magnificent; didn't drive our truck once the entire week we were here. FW amenities are amazing as well. We spent most of our time coming and going from The Settlement where there is tons to do and see before boarding either the boat to Magic Kingdom or the Bus to Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Disney never fails to inspire and make you feel special; their brand of customer service is beyond compare. Yes, the prices are high for EVERYTHING but, you are paying to ensure you have the best experience possible on all fronts. WiFi was really good at our site. Cleanliness cannot be compared. Visual stimulation without compare.
Negatives - The GENIE PASS function leaves much to be desired; worked very well at Disneyland, not so much here in WDW. EPCOT is out of date and in dire need of updating, still fun but, needs to be brought up to current and future technological trends in order to perpetuate the “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” ethos. I would rather that EPCOT continued being more of a worlds fair than just another place of cool rides, that's what the Magic Kingdom should be. The cost of course, very expensive but, worth every penny.
All-in-all our most favorite of places to be for a family vacation where everyone can be a kid even if for just a little while.

This was our second stay at Fort Wilderness, and we had much the same experience as our first go round minus the larger pool area being available due to construction (which we were aware of before booking).
We booked a basic site this go round, as the first time we stayed here we ended up staying in a base site even after paying for a preferred site due to not being able to get into that preferred site (turning radius/obstruction issues).
Site assignments are confusing. When you book at this campground you book a site type but not a specific site. Apparently there is some way you can request a specific site, but we haven't quite figured that out. We are now 2/2 stays for initial site assignments that we could not physically turn our rig into due to our turn radius and the presence of various trees, posts, or cars of other campers. This caused quite a bit of stress, as staff indicated that the park was sold out so they likely could not move us (they did, and we squeezed into our new site). It was kind of sucky that we were told a site on arrival, and after not being able to get into it, we saw several sites that had much easier access for our rig set up (34' fifth wheel and F350 dually) but were told those were reserved? Weird.
Anyways - once we were parked, our stay was great! Disney must do something magic to keep the bugs away because we didn't get bit by a single mosquito throughout our stay, and we hosted family in a tent behind our rig. Our site had a very nice tent pad, although we did need to run out to the store to purchased a 3rd sewer hose to reach the sewer inlet when our rig was parked on the concrete pad. I suppose if you were not using the tent pad you could just back your rig onto that and reach with 2 hoses.
Site 1730 was right next to the restrooms/showers which was very convenient for the tent sleepers in our party.
We thoroughly enjoyed the amenities at this park, although many were under construction during this stay. We borrowed tennis and pickle ball gear and played several times during our stay, enjoyed a campfire Disney movies, and utilized the ferry and buses to get to different Disney parks, resorts, and Disney Springs. We even partook in a horseback trail ride from the Fort Wilderness during our stay which was very nice.
We will definitely stay here again, but will plan to arrive much sooner in the day and request specific sites to alleviate the stress of arrival.
Verizon signal was good, but call drop-outs were frequent. WiFi was usable for basic internet use, but not streaming. We were able to use Starlink with some obstructions - this would be VERY site dependent as the campground is wooded.

After hearing people rave about this campground and coming to Disney World for the first time I decided to stay here. While I think this is a nice campground it did not meet my expectations (maybe they were too high.) There were things I liked, things that could use improvement, and some things I learned that might help the next camper.
Would I stay here again? I’m not sure. If and when I come back to Disney World I think this would be a great place to stay because of the location. While the free transportation to the parks were appreciated, they left a lot to be desired. If this exact campground with all its amenities was located elsewhere (excluding affiliation to the Disney theme parks) and cost the same I would not stay here again. Bottom line for me is the only thing that makes this place worth the price is the location, and even that is debatable.
Booking: Booked my stay last summer online. Did not have specific dates so built our trip around the cheapest package price for our campsite and park tickets. Here’s a tip: if you like to keep an accurate breakdown of your campground costs make sure you screenshot the prices when you are booking. Once it was booked and I paid I could only see the total package price. I tried calling Disney before my stay and was told they can only see package total. The resort itself could not provide any details. I’m waiting to hear back from the billing department to see if they have an itemized statement. It’s not a huge deal, just more curiosity.
Prior to check in: Approximately a month prior to my stay Disney mailed some discount vouchers and a “magical savings card.” Since I’m full time and had already left my parents home (where I receive mail) I contacted Disney. They were unable to help me, but suggested I ask at check in to the campground. Since the vouchers and card are needed to get the discount I asked upon check in. The resort was not able to provide any of the free & discounted vouchers. May be worth asking about when you book if this is important to you.
Check in: check in time is 3:00 pm. Check out is 11:00 am. If you download the Disney app you are able to request an early check in time. (I remember seeing times as early at 0730). They will notify you through the app when your site is ready. They do try to accommodate requests, but there are no guarantees. Being my first time here I knew there was an overflow lot if site wasn’t ready. Upon arriving at my early check in time I was directed to the overflow lot. What I wasn’t prepared for was the overflow flow lot being completely full. Majority of the large spots were filled with smaller trailers that people use to bring their own golf carts. RVs ultimately ended up parking on the grass next to the roads in the parking lot area. The overflow lot was pretty full everyday that I was here.
The campsite: Stayed in site 1634. Booked just a standard full hook up site. I think it was around $165 per night. The site was freshly cleaned off and was still wet upon arrival. When campers check out the cast members blow off, then wash down the sites prior to the next guest arrival. The site was level and hook ups were in good working order. This site had a decent amount of space behind the RV and on the camp side. The campsites are staggered and the landscaping is done in a way to provide some privacy at sites. Like other campgrounds, not all sites are created equal. Some sites had less privacy and others did not have a lot of space. Once you’re at your campsite you have no idea you’re at Disney. Unless of course you or your neighbors have decorated the campsite with Disney decor.
Comfort stations are located throughout the park. They include bathrooms, showers, and a laundry room. The bathrooms were always well stocked and clean. The laundry room was also one of the cleanest I’ve seen in a campground. It was $3 per wash and $3 per dry. Machines take credit cards.
The campground has 2 pools. The larger one has been closed for remodeling during my stay. I was made aware of this long before my stay. They do have nightly campfires and movies. There’s singalongs with Chip & Dale. You can book a Segway tour, horseback riding, carriage rides, canoeing, biking, and fishing all for additional charges. There is an off leash dog area. Multiple restaurants are on site along with a couple of shops with Disney merchandise.
Transportation to the parks: Part of the benefit of staying on property was the transportation to parks. The campground is fairly large so they do have internal buses that can take you to the main transportation areas of the campground. For the most part I just walked to the boat or main buses. From my site it was about .8 miles to the boat dock and .7 miles to the front bus station. The transportation to the parks was pretty frustrating. If you’re looking for something reliable, you may want to just drive to the parks yourself. No one could give us an accurate time that the buses actually start running in the morning. We were told different times by cast members. Online gave a time, but none of it was accurate when we were trying to start our day.
Wifi was reliable. I did have good Verizon signal.

A great campground because it’s in Disney. The site itself was small and packed in. The hookups were placed badly on our site with the sewer too far forward for me to reach, so I dumped our tanks as we pulled out. The on-site restaurants were closed, but some local food trucks setup in the evening. Walking out of the RV and walking 10 minutes to the water taxi for a direct connection to the magic kingdom is what makes this wonderful, especially when leaving the park with a sleeping baby in the stroller and never having to wake her. Bring what you need, because there isn’t much shopping close by.

We stayed at the meadow sites in the 1000 loop. Nice site, level too. This time we just stayed to enjoy the Fort. Went horseback riding…. And did some shopping at Disney springs.

I didn't feel one mosquito bite while I was there. The sewer is offset, so neighbors have a good view, but it also may mean that you'll need the sewer hose extension for some RVs.

The only negative we really had during our stay was the Yellow bus line was inconsistent and spread out a lot more than the other lines. We initially didn't rent a golf cart but ended up getting one for the second half of our stay because the Yellow bus line was unreliable and frustrating.
It's really hard to know what we actually paid for our site because we booked it as a package deal with park tickets. I believe the listed rate on the website (before package discounts applied) was around $120 per night. We did not have a premium site, but rather a standard site. It had plenty of room to park our 37 foot travel trailer and truck and still have a sitting area and a place to have our picnic table.
We will definitely stay here again.

Prices vary depending on the time of year. They have peak pricing, usually starting in November all the way through February. September the prices are at the lowest but still in the $90 range for rv camping. It is more of a resort than a campground and it is recommended that you have bikes or golf cart to get around because it is a BIG place. You also get free transportation to all Disney parks and areas.
