Super safe, campsite was more then half way full & more coming in till 10. Don’t expect a ton of privacy, but again it might be the best ya got since most other camping is super reservation heavy. You get to fall asleep to Seagulls caws & Seals barking, super dope experience. Road is great, I saw some RVs struggling to park at some site but shouldn’t be an issue. Also it is a Vet memorial so at 10 & 7 a bugle horn goes off for about 20 seconds. I heard it’s to keep the ghosts of other times away, & if you walk the trail above the site a banshee of Lar might even bless you with some beach weed!

But there are some hiking trails and the area seemed clean and safe and everyone was very friendly including the great host. The road up is not that bad if your in a smaller rv. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Monterey area. There is water and a single station dump station that was easy to use.

Close to lovers point and downtown pacific grove. Facilities are clean. Dry camping with a dump station although there’re no separate water spigot for drinking water / flushing your tanks.

Still a nice campground and the only choice around, but ... the prices have gone up. $40 for a tent, $45 for an RV ... for dry camping. By far the most we’ve paid for no hookups.

There is a trail that climbs even higher up the mountainside (Huckleberry Hill Trail) but while there are some breaks in the trees it doesn’t have any sweeping panoramic views either.
The campground is nice and fairly quiet but it can get busy. The size limitations I think keep the bigger rigs with generators away so it was very quiet during our stay.
The campground has hot showers and flush toilets but the facilities aren’t anything to write home about. At $35 a night it is a bit steep in my opinion but there aren’t any better deals anywhere close to Monterey, CA. It is also first-come, first-served and you are only allowed to stay 3 consecutive nights. Potable water and a dump station or on the property but there are no services at the campsites.
Monterey is an amazing town and this is a great spot from which to explore the bay. The aquarium is pricey but shouldn't be missed. For free activities, I recommend bike riding through town on the paved coastal trail or ride out onto the sand and down the beach.

If you don’t want to deal with the hairpin turns coming up Jefferson, take hwy 1 to 68 west and come in that way. Sites are spaced closely and you’ll need to level st most of them. The sites at the back of the camp back up to forest for more privacy but those fill first usually. Free dump station.
