"Better than most rest areas"
It's a rest area, so expect trucks, people moving through and noise. But it's huge and there are quieter areas in the back parking lot. It's a good place if you're tired and just need to get some shuteye. Put on a white noise app and you're good....

"Hard to handle if you're used to boondocking"
Yosemite has no boondocking, so you reserve in Yosemite Valley a year ahead of time, or you stay at Crane Flat or Hogdon Meadows. It's a 16 mile drive to Yosemite Valley from the campground. But it's a pretty drive. The campground is very hilly....

We arrived after dark and started to set up at one of the 5 full hookup RV sites. Then a freight train went by about 25' away. Um, no thanks. We pulled up and went elsewhere.
