“Quiet Secluded Camping ”

First I want to say we did the switch back road in with a 5 x 8 ft squaredrop style trailer and our SUV just fine. There was another smaller teardrop trailer there as well. I booked the site as a pop up camper and that seemed to be acceptable. Please note not all sites are big enough so be sure to look at the notes when you book.
Did not find any water so bring that in. Pit toilets.
Reservations are required now. This is a little drive from Yosemite valley but not bad. No cell service here.
Site 33 is the best and not like the others. Has a concrete pad and on the dead end. Quiet and views of the stars.
Also stayed a night in site 35 and that was nice but we had a raging River thru the site during rain showers.

“A gem in Yosemite!”

My husband and I camped here on a Tuesday night mid-September. We had first tried to find a spot in Yosemite Valley but everything was full before 10am. We arrived at Tamarack Flat at 11:30am and were happy to find a spot. We chose site #28 as it was large and offered more privacy than others. We definitely recommend site #28 whether you’re tent camping, SUV camping or in a RV. Otherwise check out the first ones on the left as you come in as those looked more secluded as well. Each site offers a picnic table, fire ring and bear box. Bear box use is required for any food and scented toiletry items. This is a first come first served campground but our understand is it can fill up fast at peak times. RVs are not recommended as the road is only one vehicle wide and has sharp curves. Small RVs seem to make it down ok. The road looks recently paved so it’s super smooth. This campground is definitely worth the 3 mile drive off the main road. Vault toilets are available. No AT&T cell service. We loved this peaceful and quiet campground! And it’s less than half the price of the campgrounds in the valley.
