We stayed here for 3 nights and stayed in site 113. It was considered a premium site because it was near the office, store, and pool. This campground is huge and some sites are tight and in level none in this area were that way. There are over 300 sites so I’m sure you can find what you are looking for. I would take away 1/2 star if I could but only because for this area they advertised free WiFi which they had but it was horrible. I guess that is to be expected with campgrounds. Luckily my wife still had other means to get her work done. Also for these premium sites there were no bathhouses or laundry. We had to drive to another loop. With all that said I would most definitely stay here again. There is so much to see and do within the park and Atlanta is only 35 min drive depending on traffic.

This review is for our campsite and pertains to loops M & N. Campsites in this area were poorly maintained, the road in and out was incredibly bumpy. The closest bathhouse to loop M was dated and anything that could rust was rusted. Narrow stalls, laundry water was spilling out the door. Our specific site was not level and there was so much debris from flooding that we could hardly get level.
We noticed the premium sites were better taken care of and had been updated, but still nothing special.
Most parks have some sort of limit stays, my brochure said 14 days. We met folks who had been in their spots for 19 months (and you could tell). They were not park workers.
Stone Mountain Park was nice, but still a number of closures.

At $55 per site plus $20.00 entrance fee...so really $65.00 per night, this was a very poor campsite. Some of the campground had been updated but these sites that were considered cheap came with older picnic, tables unmaintained sites and pitiful fire pits. People were nice at check in and the location allowed us to enjoy the hike up stone mountain (it's 2.2 miles to the beginning to trailhead but within the compound of park). Showers were good but our campsite was not very close to shower house and in fact our campground loop had no comfort station/bathroom. If it has been $35 a night would have been more palatable.

We stayed a week here and enjoyed our time. The campground posted notices regarding ongoing filming at night and warning of gunfire sounds as part of the film, an email was sent out as well. We didn’t mind because thats why we were here, 5min from his film set. Our site was gravel and mostly level. The main campground road was in good shape. Some of the offshoot roads that lead to sites are bumpy due to tree roots and some have a steep angle down or up to enter/exit each site section. The general store stocks all of the essentials. The grounds are well maintained and the staff is very kind. When coming to the park, take exit 8 to avoid height clearance issues. The park does warn you of this in the reservation confirmation email. Yes, you do have to pay for parking but if you plan to stay here more than twice, the annual $40 parking pass is a great deal.

Very nice place to camp close to a lot of attractions. Most of the sites seem to be level. Cell single was in great shape. You do have to pay a $20 entrance fee and campground will give you a pass to get in and out. Would stay again.

However, the campground feels as though it’s been forgotten when compared to the rest of the park - roads are awful, sites are quite unlevel. Only two bathroom stalls in comfort station 9 actually locked and it had been a while since the bathroom had seen a deep clean. Washers are $2 and dryers are $1.50.

Wife and I stayed here on our shakedown trip prior to going full-time. The campground is within Georgia's largest state park and there are pretty limitless options of things to do such as hiking, fishing, boating, golfing, biking, etc. There are miles of hiking trails that go from easy to moderate. I recommend the Cherokee trail that runs around the base of the mountain as well as the hike to the top of the mountain. The birding area looked cool too but never had the time.
As far as the campground itself goes, we found it hospitable and clean. No issues with our site but you could easily choose the wrong one and never get leveled out. My advice in choosing a site is as follows: Orange loop is fully renovated with plenty of room for big rigs, the purple loop is close to the pool and playground and the sites are just ok unless you are looking for that sort of convenience. The lime green loop (where we stayed) is also renovated but offers a little more privacy that the previous two. The red loop does have some gem sites but there has been little renovation and maneuvering in the loop could be a bit tricky if you aren't' good at it. The rest of the loops I would have a hard time recommending based solely on the state the sites are in. Leveling would be impossible in some of these. I would totally avoid any of the loops to the left as you come into the campground. One annoyance we had was the large gravel that they put in virtually all of the sites. Tough to walk on and worse on pets. Water pressure is very high so make sure you have a regulator. All in all it was a great stay in a park that is close to home and near to my heart since I have camped here since childhood.
Insider tips: There is a Campers Inn just a couple of exits away if you need supplies and almost right next to it is a great little soul food spot called "The Collard Green Cafe". The town of Stone Mountain itself isn't much to write home about but they have virtually every connivence one would need right outside of the gate. There is a German restaurant in Stone Mtn Village that we are looking to try next time as well. Happy Camping!

Came here to see an art exhibit in Atlanta.
Great site. Walk down to the lake. Bath house is old and needs updating. No benches, 1 hook.
Loops in the 100s had newer bath houses.
No wi-fi at our location. Good wi-fi by registration.
Nice fishing-need a GA license bait is sold at the office.
Golf at the park, nice course.
