Very nice campground. Had site 4, pull thru. Plenty of room. Site is a good size with shade. Fire pit, grill, picnic table. Didn’t use restrooms, so I can’t let you know about that. Walked to the Stephen Foster museum. Wow! Amazing. All his songs are listed, and about his life. Definitely a must if you go there.

We stayed for one night on our way to St. Pete Beach. After some difficulty finding the campground entrance in the park due to weak signage, it was all great! Some nice trails, playgrounds, cultural village, carillon tower, and very good and reasonably priced firewood available. Nicest part was folk music festival participants playing tunes around their campfire. It's about a 10 minute drive in from I75 thorugh a small town. We will visit here again.

This park is a gem in the Florida state park system. We stayed in late March and the air was full of birdsong. Spotted hawks, cardinals and woodpeckers. Unfortunately, the park's attractions were all closed (museum, craft village, bell tower), but that kept the park quiet except for campers. The grounds and facilities are well kept. There are two separate restroom buildings with showers, with washers and dryers, and handicapped restrooms. Many wide hiking and biking trails. Electric (30amp) and water hook-up with a dump station on the way out. Firewood for sale. Picnic table and fire ring at each site. Excellent cell service as you are not far from civilization. Lake City is about 12 miles south and Live Oak is 12 miles north. There is a canoe launch in the park but we don't have our own so we booked through American Canoe Adventures right outside the park and they drove us to another launch upriver. We would definitely stay in this campground again.
Note: There is some distant highway noise more noticeable at night, and the occasional train late at night, and on Sunday, we heard very loud motorized vehicles that could have been motorcycles or ATVs.

Nice campground with large sites. Unique opportunity to kayak on the river but don’t need to kayak that river again. OTA tv was intermittent and only cbs station (plus all the normal pbs channels) when it came in. Att and visible phones 2 bars and 2 bars of T-Mobile hotspot but all provided acceptable internet tv/movie. Too bad all the other parts of the park were closed and too bad about the questionable history of Stephen Foster. Lastly, nice recycle bins at each dumpster. On the morning we left, we watched staff empty the recycle containers into the dumpster. Would spot here again but only if we really needed to.

Sometimes you can just tell you hit the jackpot: Beautiful setting, large level sites (the pull-through sites are amazing), other campers there to enjoy the culture and history of the place, great hiking/biking trails, and the Sewannee River Wilderness Trail. We stayed 2 nights (one in the Canebreak loop, the other in the Gopher loop but there is no big distinction between either of the 3 loops). There was an assortment of camping units, from trucks/vans to big rigs. The carillon tower is undergoing renovations but we streamed a few Stephen Foster tunes just to get in the mood.

Great Natural Setting among the trees.
We only had one night here and it was great. The park has level noce sites that are well spaced. We enjoyed the setting and the Christmas Light display in the park. The chek in ranger was very nice and helpful. Verizon cell 2 bars.

Beautiful, historic park with a small, well-maintained campground. We had an easy, pull-through site with a wide space along side that had a table, fire ring and grill. The site was pristine, even raked, before our arrival. As recent camp hosts in another state, we have great respect for the care these camp hosts take in this park and sought them out to thank them for their service.
The price reflects the discount available to Florida's senior residents.

At first this seemed like a good place to stop and camp. Florida generally provides a 50% discount for senior Florida citizens -- that's me. But when I went to check in I found out that you're not allowed to gather firewood. You're also prohibited from bringing firewood in from another location. If you want a campfire you'll need to buy a bundle of a few sticks from them at $5 a bundle. A typical campfire would cost you about $20 to $30. NO THANKS. For me, much of the enjoyment of having a campfire is going into the forest to gather wood. It's exercise, serene, and pleasant to listen to the birds.
This practice of restricting the gathering of firewood is not an actual Florida state law (as it is in Texass)--yet-- and there actually may be one or two Florida state parks that permit it, but there's no central list; you'd have to call each one to learn their policy. Phony baloney excuses aside, you can bet it's all about the money.
