Access is through Fort Collins and up on the hill across the lake. Kiosk at the gate is sometimes manned and sometimes not. A Larimer County parks pass is required in addition to camping fees. We were in the full hookup sites above the lakeside sites, these have more space than lakeside sites. Park was pretty quiet even though we were there over the 4th of July. Park rangers keep tight control of the situation. Location is within an easy drive to Poudre Canyon and great hiking. Most sites are on the lake but they are all just electric and some water.
Lots of restaurants in nearby Ft. Collins.
AT&T cell service was poor, 1-2 bars of 4G, but with our WeBoost got a good signal, streamed easily.

We stayed at site 32 last night. We were really excited to be near the water for our very first trip in our new camper. Unfortunately, Horsetooth Resevior was so low you couldn’t really even see water, much less be close to it.
The site itself was clean and seemed well organized (although we weren’t really outside much due to the cold weather). Neighbors were really close but we’re quiet and friendly. Bathrooms near our site were standard pit toilets, but no sinks/mirrors. Pretty bare-bones.
This served our purpose for a shake-down trip very near to our home (just a couple of miles). I’ll be happy to try staying again during the summer. Not sure it’s worth the money in the winter.

We had Stayed at Inlet Bay campground (also on Horsetooth Reservoir) for 5 nights in early October, 2022, but had to switch to South Bay after finding out there were no vacancies for the holiday weekend. Pretty much duplicate campgrounds.
$25/night plus $10/day car fee, and a onetime $8.75 transaction fee. Not the cheapest but hard to get a decent place near the mountains and town that is clean, well laid out, has great views and is on the water!
Only a couple sites had full hookups, but ALL had water & electricity. There are also Water (pump) spigots every few sites, clean pit toilets every 200 yards or so, and one central bathhouse with real clean showers, toilets and sinks.
We have a 30’ TT and we fit fine.
Bit of road noise but not bad during sleep hours
Rangers came through many times during the day & night… totally safe.
3-4 bars AT&T for pretty good remote-work and streaming.

We really enjoyed this place. Some of the campsites are close together while others have some distance between them. The reservoir itself is beautiful and our kids enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking on it. Camp Hosts were friendly. The campsites themselves are minimally picked up, not manicured by any means. Road noise is present mainly due to the proximity to the main roadways coming into the area. Overall, we thought this was a fun place and will be back due to how close it is to home for us. This is about an hour from home and is a convenient location to enjoy camping. We would recommend getting a spot close to the waterfront for easy access to the water and eater sports.

Small spots pretty much right on top of each other with no privacy and little to no shade. If you can’t get a spot on the water I wouldn’t bother.

$40/night, $8.95 Recreation.gov transaction fee, plus $9/day (non-resident) fee ... too much!! We had full hookups, gravel sites pretty level, not much of a view. Did not use facilities. Pretty lake. Will not return here. :-(

It’s pretty close to the highway and the highway is pretty busy, so a lot of cars and headlights throughout the night. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful park and spacious between your neighbors. Our spot was “waterfront”. This time of year (November), the reservoir is very very low/empty. We took advantage of walking in what will be the bottom of the reservoir again next year. Very people and let friendly. Our spot was close to the dumpster and bathroom but not close to a water spickett.

I don’t have much else to add. T-Mobile was unusable. Lake was low during our stay. Moderately road noise. However, the lake is stunning and the hiking and biking are excellent. Worth a short stay but expensive for electric only. See the attached blog post for photos.

The grass was pretty tall all around and I think that was on purpose, but just keep an eye out with pets. We saw some deer here as well, very cool
Plenty of spots to get your boat into the water and a small swimming area. The lake is beautiful!
Cell coverage is very poor (we have ATT) but the information center has some free wifi that you can use on the back patio overlooking the lake. If you think you will need it, try to stay near that area.
Highly recommend this park, especially if you are going to get on the water or just need a place to sleep while visiting Fort Collins.
