UPDATE: The owner, confirming the poor impression she left with me when I made the mistake of staying there, has sent me rude texts—first in response to my polite and legitimate issues I raised with her, then after I posted this review. In her latest, she wrote, in part:
“Seems like you’re just an unhappy person looking to take it out on everyone else you meet… Must be very lonely being as unhappy are you are!”
In short, don’t make the same mistake I did.

We were warned the campground was a "work in progress" before we arrived, and it certainly is. And although the weather was cold, the hospitality kept us warmer than we would have ever imagined.
Joyce kept in constant communication with us, went over and above in service and thoughtfulness, offering our family more than I would have ever asked for. She even has bonfires each night (and I hear pot lucks too during warmer months) where those who are in the campground feeling social bring a drink and some good stories.
The sites and grounds are sparse - the buildings are run down even - but don't let that stop you from getting to know the kindest host you'll ever meet.
The area also has more to offer than we originally thought. We planned on staying only a couple days to regroup in between boondocking times, but we ended up staying longer because Joyce is just such a fantastic person. Our two young boys even helped work on the property a bit, which they loved.
If you need a luxury pad and are going to be picky, find somewhere else to be all bougie. But if you can look past a work in progress, you'll have the best company you can imagine.
We will most definitely be back. It's worth the drive.

Our week long stay at Sonoran Skies was just delightful and I recommend this RV park enthusiastically! It is a small RV park with a BIG heart. We second all the great reviews we have read here about this little park.
When we arrived we were personally welcomed by Joyce and provided with a packet of pamphlets of the local area. Sonoran Skies is a hybrid; a little bit campground, a little bit Sr. Hostel and a little bit family. Joyce went the extra mile to make our stay one to remember. She values each and every individual who stays with her and offers 10 star hospitality with a friendly smile. We felt a part of the 'family' she works hard to create at Sonoran Skies and are eager to return next year.

If you value great hospitality, this is the place to come to. We pulled in late at night, called the number to see if there was any chance we could just park there so we were safe for the night and the owner came right out and parked us in a site, helped us hook up and then went off while we set up. She came back 15 minutes later with hot chocolate and some homemade soup and bread for us as we’d been on the road a long day! Who does this for you??? We got a full hook up, quiet place with a fantastic host. In the night we heard owls and coyotes howling. The owner Joyce told us we’d hear them and not to be worried. One of the best things was waking up to the rooster! It was such a welcome sound to us in this small area of the desert. Joyce came back around about 10am and got us signed in. She let us get settled in before even taking any money. The campground is small but she only has 10 sites. Half full hook ups and half partial. She allowed us to go into the chickens and sit with them. She also has a Turkey. All
were hand reared so they’re friendly and just love to be picked up. Such joy! We got a package of brochures and maps of things to do in the area which was a huge help to us. We only meant to stay one night but we delayed our trip to Mexico and stayed with her for over 2 weeks. There’s a nightly campfire where lots of different people come. Some guests, some neighbors, some friends and each night there seemed to be different dogs arriving. All knew the owner and all
knew she had treats!
This place is special. The owner is so friendly and welcoming, it took us aback as most of the rv parks are now contactless check in. Not this one- she is full on available and very very welcoming.
We will stay here again.

Small, well maintained RV Park. The owner goes out of her way to make you welcome. She readily responded to my booking request completed by text and email. On arrival greeted me and provided a package with various things to do and see in the area.
Definitely will stay here again.
My rate was for water and sewer only.

Not the desert in bloom or the largest rv space in the world could compare to this lady’s heart. She truly cares about everyone and goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need. My rv site was large. The campground is quiet and not one single piece of trash anywhere.! What a hands-on lady. She is out working every minute of every day either cleaning up or Constructing something.
This is a definite stay for me next season. Great find. Super lady and just the most down to earth, family feeling here. I wanted to stay much longer but work called me back. Honestly, she offers full time camping- I may retire and consider moving here!

Joyce is the most loving and gracious host we have come across. She truly cares for her guests and you quickly become family at this wonderful campground! I can't say enough good things about our experience here. Communication was excellent throughout. She will text, and can use modern means to bill and book you making sure you have any and all information needed. When we got there, she had our girls out in the chicken coop giggling and learning and that night she had a campfire for them complete with S'mores and colored flames! This campground is safe and in a beautiful location. We explored Organ Pipe National Monument, hunted scorpions and had the best sunsets and sunrises you could imagine. We are already planning our trip back next year and will be staying longer! 100% recommend!!!

After reading countless negative reviews of other campsites in the area, we decided to take a chance on a site with no Campendium reviews, and called Sonoran Skies to check availability. We left a voicemail, & within minutes, Joyce, the owner, texted us (YES... texted!!!! She knows how to use modern communication methods! A rarity for most site owners.) to sort out the details. Within minutes, our site was confirmed, payment made through Venmo, & checkin information sorted. Joyce left us a welcome packet with area information, tips for restaurants & shops, & even everything we needed for easy hookups, just in case we didn’t feel like unpacking our own.
The sites were well spread out with a bit of shade. The campground was quiet & clean. From booking to checkout when Joyce sent us off with a dozen farm fresh eggs from her hens, we had a perfect experience, one worthy of our first ever review!

spent all day looking for a camping space in ajo and met some of the rudest people in the rv parks. came to why and this tiny community have been taken in like one of the family. this small campground has full hook ups and their dry hook ups have water and dump. the lady who owns this place by herself called joyce was the most helpful and beautiful lady. she is still working on the grounds it was left as foreclosed when she bought it. i had a lovely space with a desert view. i didn't know about any of the native plants here and she told me all about them and the natives from the next reservation. she even gave me a jar of prickly pear jelly she had made from cactus fruit. she is very acomodating and very kind. she loaned me some screwdrivers to fix my passenger door and made fresh coffee in the morning for guest staying here. she lit a fire for her guest at night and we did not have to pay for any wood. she brought a bowl of chips and guacamole and salsa to the campfire to share and gave everyone skewers for smores. we sat outside in the night till almost 3.30am and it was quiet and peaceful. this is the only place i will come back to when i travel to arizona next winter. it is my favorite place to visit.
