Would it be safe to drive in late at night in a 4WD CRV? It wouldn't be towing anything.

There are a few smaller spots up the big hill but it isn't suggested for larger rigs, there's no room to turnaround.

There is only one spot on top of the hill before the barbed wire fence that is the dead end for the disbursed camping area. Nothing bigger than a small all-in-one will make it up there because of a rut in the incline and there is no way to turn around. This was a was a well-populated place mid-August and so peaceful and beautiful. Gorgeous sunset, amazing starry sky, stunning sunrise. Go for an evening stroll to the top of the gravel road for the view. If there’s not much wind you can hear the freeway noise, but it’s not bothersome even though we slept with the windows open.

River Rd you’ll drive up a hill, the camping area begins at the top of this hill. There is a beautiful view spot at the top of the next ridge but walk up first so you know where it is, if you past the last spot the road is blocked by a wire gate with no place to turn a trailer around.

At the top of the first hill are several open grass spots. I fit fine in a 32' class C with a toad. 4 bars on Verizon with no booster.

We recently stayed two nights with our 33 ft Fifth Wheel and I was pleasantly surprised ! I was nervous about boon docking in what looked to be a remote area (first time boon docking) but found this place to be very peaceful. There are many roads in this area that offer a wide variety of camping sites and it was quite busy (but not annoyingly so), The roads were easily passable with fresh gravel and the views and sunsets were fantastic !

The road in was easy and we did manage to find a spot at the very end, only because there's a massive dip to get in that my 4x4 Tahoe barely cleared but the view was 100% worth it. We tent camp so the spot was ideal, but 11 RVs and cars came by searching for a spot and had to turn around at the private property fence by our site. I recommend getting hear early and either setting camp or marking the spot as taken with some items so you can enjoy Medora without the worry. The badlands carry noise from the highway really loud and far but it was no bother to us. My ATT had full bars but my daughters Verizon had shoddy signal

About 1.5/2 miles down the newly graded dirt road. You will take the first right on the dirt road and it will take you to several camping spots. If you go over a cattle guard you have gone too far. Hope this helps! It has lovely sunset views and you can see for miles! There are countless spots to just pull off. We found a relatively flat spot. There were several other campers and tents around but everyone was pretty great and quiet!

Two miles from highway 94 exit-23, on the side of dirt road, find your own spot, we arrived on Friday afternoon, nobody there just us, some car/camper came later. Saturday there were more cars when we came back from the park, but we still found a spot. No table/ fire pit provided, just a place to park, and it is free. Good view.
