Great area. Springs were awesome. 11:00 checkout kind of pushes you out on your last morning. But worth the stay.

The springs are extremely pretty, and the campsites are beautifully maintained. The grounds are pristine and the shower house was kept very clean! Staff members and volunteers were pleasant and helpful with our first time questions! We will definitely return and the next time, the kayak will come along.

Typically quiet and shuts down early in the evening. Very peaceful in the evening next to a fire. WiFi is slow and only near the facilities. AT&T cellular is very little to none at all. Do not count on using a hotspot. Verizon does work though.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Salt Springs. There were large grassy areas behind many of the sites, including ours, that provided room for the kids to run around and also allowed a direct path to the comfort station. Many of the sites had shade and good places to hang hammocks. All sites were paved and had full hookups. Comfort stations were clean and well maintained. We even noticed extra sanitizing to help with coronavirus concerns.
The springs were close enough to walk or bike and we loved how the water was not too deep so our kids could confidently swim and play. We also used the boat ramp to launch our own kayaks and explore the area.
There was very little privacy between sites but the open areas made it feel like you weren’t packed in. There was almost no cell reception on AT&T but there is (very slow) WiFi available. The only bugs we encountered were yellow flies just one day and we did see quite a few ticks so I would bring some spray, just in case.

The camp ground was nice had full hook ups, no cable, horrible WiFi located only at the guard shack and the 2 bath houses. No service from AT&T. But quiet for the most part and some cool walking/hiking trails. Had a couple of camp host that were very strict in which we could not be on the grass just to load up our additional vehicle.

This big rig friendly campground in the Ocala National Forest is operated by a concessionaire, and provides access to the Salt Springs boil and swimming area. Many fish and blue crab were observed in the springs while snorkeling. Our cellular booster provided signal. Without the booster, cell service was barely usable on both the Verizon and AT&T networks. With the booster, Verizon clocked in at 34 Mbps download speed and 15.6 upload speed. AT&T clocked in at 24.8 Mbps download speed and 1.39 upload. Privacy is lacking in the full hook-up area, otherwise this campground provides a wonderful camping experience.

The campground at Salt Springs has about 100 RV spaces with full hookups (unusual for a National Forest Campground). Access is from SR 19 as it passes through the small community of Salt Springs.
Operated by a concessionaire, the campsites are well maintained and serviced between departures and arrivals. The RV sites are in a wooded area with Spanish moss draped oak trees and maintained grassy areas between sites. Site 32 was level and easy to back into.It is a pleasant campground but lacks privacy between sites.
The $12.50 is the rate with a senior discount pass. In addition, $9/day is added to the camping rate for electricity. Worth noting is the lack of cell service not just in the campground but in the community of Salt Springs as well.
Earl and I stayed here for three nights as we were traveling to a festival located about 15 miles north. It was a relaxing 3 day stay on our trip. Earl and I would stay here again if traveling this route.

I stayed in the primitive camping area
The cost was $11.50 withe the Senior pass.
Campground pass is good for access to the Springs although they say you have to pay the daily admission if you stay past 1pm. I didn’t see anyone inforcing it.
It was realitivly quiet except from some road traffic nearby

We have visited Salt Springs a have dozen times over the last decade or so, but back then we were tent camping in the summertime. The cool 72 degree spring is so nice to have for swimming and snorkeling when the temperatures are in the 90's. Now in the winter the campground is full of snowbirders and the spring is empty. During the week the campground is filled with mostly adult campers but you'll still see families arriving for the weekends.
Although our AT&T phone read no service we were able to get 2 bars of 4G/LTE with the Wilson Sleek booster.
We visited this campground from 01/07/19 until 01/13/19.
