“Excellent Campground in an Unexpected Area”

This campground was an unexpected gem. There are two camping areas: the Lakeview Campground which was built in the 1960's and the Cottonwood Campground that was built around 2006. There is a noticeable difference. If you can, grab a spot in the Cottonwood area since that is the nicer area. All of the RV spaces in this area are cement pads and most are large enough to fit large motorhomes or 30+ foot trailers plus tow vehicle. The full hookups are all located conveniently on a tower next to the cement. A picnic table and fire pit are also provided at each site. There was good distance between sites separated by grass. There are some trees, but don't count on them for much shade during the day. The sites on the outermost rim (245-261) are surrounded by dirt. All other sites in Cottonwood have grass. Sites 226-229 are probably considered the best sites. This is a very dog-friendly and kid-friendly campground. It also seemed to be very well patrolled by the park staff. They were very effective with a guest that was playing music too loud. The camp store was well stocked with all of the essentials found at most camp stores. The Verizon cell service was good enough to stream Netflix and YouTube without buffering. When staying here, be on the lookout for a few skunks that come out at sunset. If you are looking for a good hike, I recommend hiking to the top of Mt Rubidoux which is a short drive to the base. From the top, you'll be able to see the campground.

We stayed here back in October during our travels to visit friends and stayed again in January for the same reason. Beautiful park with large level concrete sites, grass, and trees in Cottonwood Loop, although Sites 240-261 on outer edge have no grass (dirt w/concrete pad) or trees. We lucked out and got a reservation 2 days before arrival on a holiday weekend after trying weeks earlier. Clean campground/sites and bathrooms, economic laundry onsite ($1/load), quiet at night except for maybe a far off train on occasion. There is a pet fee of $2 per day upon arrival and an $8 reservation fee online. Easily accessible from the highway.
Flaybob Airport is real close so we were treated to some fun antique airplanes flying overhead during the day at times.

There are 2 campgrounds plus a group camp and cabins available for rent at Rancho Jurupa Regional Park. We stayed in the Lakeview Campground because there wasn't any availability in the Cottonwood Campground on short notice.
The road and the campsites are dirt/gravel in the Lakewood Campground, so a lot of dust gets kicked up as people drive through. Sites have partial hook-ups with 20/30/50 amp electric and water, spaces are close together and some were pretty junky. It would be nice if the park required people keep a tidy campsite.
The Cottonwood Campground is much nicer with paved roads with concrete pads, full-hookup sites and a laundry room.

This park is a hidden gem near the city! Cottonwood is the paved side of the park, with huge sites and grassy common areas. My favorite spot is in the 240s, we adore the camphost who lives on that side, as well as there are fewer people driving by. The laundry facility makes this place easy to stay at. I dont care for the grass spots in the center, as it attracts children and people walking dogs through your campsite. Quiet time is 10 and I have never heard to many people making a disturbance after that (except noise coming from the Lakeside campground). Most RVers drive the speed limit and watch for littles biking. My son enjoys the Gopher Hole Store, mini golf and the splash pad.
Tip: Low bridge on Mission Inn Ave 13 ft 2 in, we always take the 60 to Rubidoux Blvd.
Stater Bros grocery on Mission Inn is a disgusting ghetto filled dumpster heap. Drive to Staters on Limonite or Vons on Riverside/Merill.

If you have a choice, ask to stay in the grassy area. Our site was all dirt. Bathroom was not clean, but I’m sure that was because of all of the people staying for the Easter weekend. Put in your earplugs at night if barking dogs and howling coyotes keep you awake. Also, the park can accommodate big rigs, NP.

We needed a place to stay in Riverside that would be close enough to the college that we would not have a long commute. Our business down there was to watch a three game series between The University of Hawaii and University of California at Riverside. This park is only 10 minutes and an easy drive to downtown Riverside. I booked online and then checked out the area and initially was a little concerned. When we arrived we were shocked to see such a nice park with lots of amenities. Our site had 50 amp service and water but no sewer. We were in the older section of the park near the lake. This part of the park goes from paved road to gravel but it was not rutted or full of pot holes. Our site had a huge shade tree and was level. We walked all around the park (200 acres) and checked out the other sites. The new section is full hookup and all concrete and pavement. They have a water feature at this park for kids and it was a hit. They have a disc golf course that seemed to have some action on it as well. We saw plenty of people fishing around the lake but not many were catching. We did not need to use the showers or the restroom but we did check them out and found them to be very clean. When the camp ground fills up you tend to hear a lot of neighbor noise. We would stay here again for sure.

The site was dirt, and all the grass was dead. I couldn't let me kids run around outside because of all the stickers in the dead grass. The nearby parks were nice.
This part of Riverside isn't too spectacular, but it's a quick drive across the bridge into downtown Riverside.
If you decide to stay here, pay the little extra for Cottonwood. The spaces are wider, asphalt, and the grass isn't all dead.
