This is a Forest Service campground that has some reservations and some FCFS campsites. It is located near exit 55 on I-90 behind the rest area. There is both road and train noise.
The roads and sites in this campground are paved. Just be aware there are “natural” speed bumps throughout the campground due to tree roots. Loops A & C are easily accessible for those traveling West. Loop G is more accessible for those traveling East, but closer to the train tracks. There is a 14’ tunnel that goes under the freeway if wanting to be on the other side. Got here on Saturday afternoon of Labor Day weekend to a mostly empty campground.
Site 10 was a pull through site. While technically a reservable site, the campground releases non reserved sites for FCFS. It was fairly level, had a picnic table and fire ring.
The campground has restrooms, water spigots, potable water and a dump station. At the time of my stay the dump station in Loop C was closed. The only dump available was in Loop G.
Campground hosts are available. They do have firewood available at their site. The sign states 5 pieces of firewood per site per night.
Verizon signal was 2 bars 5G. It was adequate for talking, texting, searching the internet, and streaming videos.
Stayed here once before in 2020, would stay again if in the area.

I could see staying here for up to two nights. Great walking trail above the river and paved roads for biking but not a lot of other activities. The Clark Fork river is below but inaccessible from the campground. Cell service was good and highway noise was present but not bad, probably depends on what site you selected. Campground hosts were very pleasant and helpful. Our site was large and level and multiple dump stations in various loops.

much better than parking lot - which was our alternative.

As for drinking water, it is available in section A as well as the others, the spigots have threaded ends for connecting a hose and they have paved pull outs so you are out of the way of others while you're filling water tanks. Also there is a drinking water hook up at the dump area in loop C so you can handle all your business in one spot.
As for you solar types, I was in A4, a pull thru spot. It may be the nature of the beast , but the pull thru's in loop A seemed to have a good open sun area available for enough of the day to keep you in business, weather permitting.
Use of the dump is $10 if not camping. It's 45 minutes to Missoula and it's not a boondocking site. It's a Campground near the interstate and a train track (loop G is closer to the trains), but it's also the best camping deal you'll have this season.

We love to stay on National Forest lands when we can and this place did not disappoint. The campground is large with on both sides of the hwy. It’s super quiet but you can hear the trains if you don’t mind the noise - you can also hear the big rigs pass by. Verizon was a bit spotty. Overall I’d stay here again!

G loop is located on the opposite side of I-90 next to R/R tracks. All three loops have a camp hosts, no hookups at sites but there is trash, water and dump station free with your paid stay or $10 if you just need to dump. All have flush and pit toilets. all sites are paved and relativity level. Loop A has pull through sites and you can reserve on line, C & G are FF. There is some highway noise, but wasn't annoying. There is a tunnel to access either direction, east or westbound on/off ramps. The Clark Fork river runs behind the campground, access to the river is just up the interstate at exit 55, about 3 miles away. There are short easy trails as well accessed from the campground. I paid $7.50 night with my Access Pass. My remote Verizon cell internet router worked just fine fully able of streaming movies. Montana isn't so much a Sprint carrier state. Arriving was simple and easy, fill out the site envelope and drop in the box or reserve on line for loop A which seemed to be mostly reserved.

Most sites are long enough to fit my rig, which is a 1997 F250HD Ext can and 37-foot Rockwood Signature UL fifth-wheel, no problem. Eastbound campsites have an active railroad track and you do hear traffic on I-90.
