Drive on beach was easy with very packed sand. Get your $12 annual permit from Stripes gas station in Port A before coming to beach. Definitely worth spending a couple days right on beach. Beach was a little dirty as we arrived day after Memorial Day and looks like heavy weekend usage. People driving motorized golf carts around on beach up until 10:00 was a little annoying but we suspect they’re college partyers here for holiday week.

We liked this place. Really would have been better if not here over memorial weekend. It was super crowded and people are just trashy. They leave garbage and tents and easy ups, flip flops and cans etc. we cleaned up the area most of our last day. Be careful of high tides or rain as it’s easy to get stuck.

Beautiful place to stay for three nights. We only stayed two. Take a rake to clean an area from sea weed. You will have an awesome beach front. Stay 5 to 10 feet behind sea weed. The tide does come in while you are asleep. Lol.

I really enjoyed my three nights camping here. You need to purchase a $12 annual beach parking permit from one of the local stores to park at the beach. I got mine at a gas station. It’s not a camping specific permit, as every vehicle needs to have this to park on the beach, even for day use. The signs say you are allowed to camp for three nights. This beach is walking distance to shops and a couple of restaurants. This is much more of a party beach than down at Padre Island National Seashore. I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s just a different scene so keep that in mind if you’ve never been to the area and you are trying to pick the best experience for you. Dogs are allowed on the beach but must be kept on a leash. When the tide was questionably high at the Padre Island beach camping spots, this beach was completely safe and I was high and dry. They were pushing a lot of sand around with dozers the day I left. It looks like they do a lot of work to keep the beach area drivable. There are wooden pillars parallel to the shore for miles that keep a line between the beach where you can hang out and the part you can park on or drive on. This is nice because you don’t need to be looking over your shoulder while walking on the beach so that you don’t step in front of a vehicle. The last night I was there (a Monday night) a vehicle pulled up right by me and blasted music for a few minutes after I was already in bed. I didn’t react and eventually they left. I noticed that the van that had parked near me at sunset the night before was gone when I looked out at sunrise and they had left their two nice camp chairs behind. I wondered if they got scared off by that bully. Other than that, everyone else I encountered was friendly. You can rent beach golf carts nearby and that seemed to be a popular daytime activity on the weekend, with everyone driving by blasting music during the days. They are only allowed on the same portion that vehicles are allowed on though, so the main part of the beach is safe from them. The parking was flat when I was there, and the sand was hard packed when I arrived. It was softening by the time I left three days later, but as I mentioned, they were actively working with it then to make it nice again. Great Verizon signal-I was able to hotspot for work no problem. Tons of trash cans and portapotties. Very clean beach!

If you like the beach and want to camp on it this is the place. Absolutely beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The sand is hard packed enough for our 20k pound toy hauler with no tire tracks visible. Plenty of room for big rigs and toads too. Do watch the weather and get a tide map at the local convenience stores, same place you pick up a $12 annual beach camping pass. There is a limit of 3 days per visit but I talked to some folks that interpret that to mean you have to move every 3 days down the beach. There are port-a-potties and trash cans all along the beach. Beach security patrol was seen about every hour and we had no troubles on our visit. It is windy and it can be intimidating looking at the big ocean scene but a perfect place to fish, sunbathe, boogie board and more. There are numerous shops and restaurants within a few miles, downtown too. If you want to try it all don't forget to load up on the free for all ferry ride across the Aransas Pass, allows all vehicles up to 80k pounds and up to 13 feet 6 inches. We will be back!
